Hey, nice work. Can't remember what colour you were going to paint it but it's looking good! Can't wait to see another modified 40 all tidied up. Any plans for some exterior bar work?

You'll be back on the road in no time by the look of things.

Hey, yeah thats the plan warrant runs out in jan so will need a cert next :)

The colour is supposed to be bright orange but looking at the paint in the can it looks more yellow than orange  ohwell we'll see today when i spray it on

Still not too sure on bar work, I really hate the look of big brush bars, i was thinking of modding my front guards somewhat like petes ones so i dont need big ugly rubber flares.
Ill also be making rock sliders thatll follow the same lines as the original side steps (I got new steps folded up out of 3mm steel chequer plate cos the old ones were rotten  )

Got the new ehaust made up. What a mission getting it to fit where I wanted it (Higher than the chassis rail, protected by the rock slider) Give me a truck to work on any day. But got there in the end an it worked out pretty well.

A good 2F with a set of extractors and a short pipe really wakes the beast! Sounds good & makes a big differnce to the torque & power. Funny thing - I'm stripping my 40 for parts & have a really good 2F (recond head, new rings) with extractors to sell....

Bit of an update. Had a week off working on the 40  . This weekend I started on some bar work, an tidied up a few loose ends like mounting the fire extinguisher an master switch on a checker plate panel between the seats, made some rubber flares for the back arches. Then decided to take it out for a drive an even managed to get it a little dirty

I'm mighty impressed with how fast you are flying through this build. Its looking really nice 8)

Whats the plan for the exhaust coating? Zinc then some high temp paint? Did you look at HPC coating (think that's what its called???)

Awesome to have it mobile - I bet it puts a smile on your face every time you take it out

Yeah it hasnt taken too long but I really havent done anything too extreme to it, just a few upgrades here an there to make it more reliable an enjoyable to drive
Its been mobile for a little while but ive really only taken it from work to the storage place around the corner, this was the first decent drive an I couldnt get the smile of my face the whole time
Im goin to leave the exhaust as is (finished the tailpipe today) the zinc paint seems to stay the truck exhausts ok but I might get some black zinc instead. Im also goin to make up some ali heat shields for it where it gets close to the floor.

Got my new Snr flat pitman arm today. Very impressed with it, its about twice as big as the standard one an about an inch shorter which worked out well for me, being flat it gave me a small issue with chassis rivet clearance (one was right in the way) so I adjusted it too suit (Insert smiley face with angle grinder  )
Also ground about 1mm off the thread of the ball joint to give a bit more clearance

Had a bit of a lazy long weekend, had a few things to fix on my daily driver but did manage to finally get my steering dampener mounted (pics to come). Quite an improvement compared to not having one
One more thing ticked off the list, booked in for the cert inspection on 22nd of feb.
I used a landrover disco dampener I got when I bought a complete disco front diff/suspension setup (for future coil mods  )
Reason I used the disco one was because it doesnt have balljoints on the ends like the 40 one so was a lot easier to make mounts for.
