Pureora 5, 6, 7 January '10

So it was mid-week, but still on holiday.... can that count as a weekend????

DB, Satalite (lil miss yak yak???), RJ, my lad and myself spent a couple of nights at the DOC ground at Pureora.

We got there about midday on Tuesday and set up camp, then wandered off to have a look at some of the sights. Normally its all go, go, go so we casually wandered out and ventured to the old steam winch, the dozer (and try as I might I couldnt locate any 4x4 tyre marks heading up the 200mtrs off the track, or anywhere in the bush surrounding the dozer either. There were mountain bike tracks however....... the plot thickens!) We also went to the buried forest to check out the old trees levelled by Taupos little hissy fit circa 200ad, and went for a clamber up the lookout tower too.

Wednesday we went for a look up the end of bogg inn road to see what other tracks there were aside from the normally flogged. We sullied forth down a couple of tracks that led to nowhere, where RJ and I both found use for our winches, DB seemed to "skip" around most of the little nasties yet restrained himself from taking the piss outa us. With these two tracks done, we went to bogg inn proper and had lunch then spent the rest of the day meandering around the various tracks. On the way back to camp, we also went to the centre of the North Island... what a highlight!!!!

We had the intent of heading up to Ngaroma on Thursday, but my front control arm bushes gave up the ghost, RJ's PS pump started making odd noises and DB and Satalite ran out of transfer case mounts, so the safe option was taking by just heading home instead.

Cheers for a cool couple of days guys!

Was an awesome couple of day's, cheers guy's :D :D

There most definitely is no way you could physically fit a 4x4 down to the crawler tractor, not unless you can magically squeeze your truck through 1.8m gaps between trees
