Wanting a Zuk

Post by dean zuk »

Hi there everyone,
My names Dean and im from Chch
Just sold my car and am in the the market for a 4wd, wanting a SJ413 or similar.
Mate had one a while back and got me hooked, i've managed to hold off the 4wding bug till now!

Just thought i'd say hello and see what people had to say about them, and any suggestions on what to look out for would be much appreciated!

Cheers
Dean

Nice choice in 4wd . SJ's are an awesome little machine.

main thing to look out for with an SJ is RUST.
look every where before you buy. It will be their. under the flares , under the rocker panel covers , in the floor pan , at the corners of the windscreen and the rear quarter panels.

New SJ413 driver

Post by dean zuk »

Have found one!
I'm now the owner of a 86 SJ413, standard apart from a set of 31x10.5" BFG all terrains (rubbing central! ).

Now i have to get it all set up and get the gear to take it on some trips. Snatch strap, shovel, shackles and tow hooks are all on the shopping list.

On the topic of tow hooks, i have no idea on metalworking etc so won't be able to mount them myself, should i take it to a towbar shop to get them put on? or is it not too difficult a job (i can follow instructions if it doesn't require too many specialist tools etc)

Anyway just thought id say hi and cant wait to get out amongst it.

Cheers
Dean

Yes thats what i was hoping i could come across, as at the moment i have a bullbar but suspect its a bit of a home job or been modified to fit as its mounting points are a little interesting. Any help would be much appreciated.
