One thing you probably want to investigate first is what OSH and the silly rules they have, with the CCVC SAR team they are trained, I'm assuming that Police etc.

I was told during the rescue of a climber there were 30 people involved with some of the people observing, one step may be to put an expression of interest into the local SAR training course(s).

Be aware also during a CD emergency you may not be allowed into an emergency site without a CD identidy card.

Not trying to put a wet blanket on things just passing on what we have found so far

i cant see us having a problem with stuff like that here, as we are all just mates doing another mate who got stuck a favour by going out to rescue him/her so that the universal trade of a box of piss is then owed to the rescuer  ...does that make sence.... put it this way

*pete rings me up and says*.."duuuude !, guess what.... im stuck up the back of >insert track name here<and my winch blew up and my nissan just cant get out of this mud...."

*Reply*... "BWahahhahhaha...be there in >insert time frame here< to pull you out...you'll owe me a box of piss for this bro...."

and we all have a funny story to share over a beer later :D

We won't be getting into any CD shit. If it gets that bad they will probably be calling for anyone with a 4wd anyway, like in the floods up north a couple of years ago... I just want to help out people in this forum who have got themselves into some embarrasing sort of shit. Like lookig after like after the shit that has blown up over last weekends Ashley drowning.

I'm all for it but we should do something about banning cameras unless there are toyotas or land rovers being rescued

and to follow on from that, a video camera MUST be used if there is a nissan stuck. Besides, it was a nissan stuck last night that we spent ages getting out.

What a great Idea.

I'm more than hapopy to create a NZ online database of people willing to help those that are stuk... Could even tie it into phone text message.

Eg: Your stuck in town Z, you can send a text message to a number with detail of region your in and an automated system will send you a text with numbers to ring who are available and in your area to help out.

??????? Does this sound like an idea. People in the database can access and change there own details. Recovery gear they have. Times available or even days....... It would need to be planned out, BUT very do-able from my end....

You could always install one of those devices that they had on the thunderbirds vehicles which disabled all camera's......

But then I suppose you'd be answering the radio "fab" and have the theme tune playing everytime your garage door opens....

The recovery squad DB will be up and running this week guys. All youll have to do is print the list of available people off and take it with you. It is tied into the site so makes for easy use. I will talk to markr and enquire about linking into the text messaging. sounds interesting.

What about also using set freq's and alt freq's for set area's?

Eg: Waimak freq, channel 19, alt 15, Waipara channel 12, alt 13

Print out a list, tape it to the dash/ Sun visor

Considering the limited range of PRS, why not just say Channel 19 is the happy chat channel for all ORE members? The problem is a lot of us are just using $50/pair cheap handhelds and no in-cab unit... which means the reception is limited to a couple of hundred metres... at best.

Maybe in the list we need to have what chanels we normally sit on as part of our details... both PRS and AM.

Already in there  but good to see it will be a useful feature if other people are thinking along the same lines.

Put me on the list for the Blenheim area, but depending on time/day I'm willing to travel a couple of hrs (Nelson,Kaikoura) to help out if need be.
