04.12.09: Bought another jerry can holder from supercheap (already have one set up on my trailer) and began making, for want of a better phrase, a "jerry can holder holder" to be mounted on the spare wheel carrier.
Have got it all tacked together, will post up some pics later.

First, found and old rim, and cut the centre out, much easier than cutting steel and drilling holes etc.

Welded a plate into the old hole

Made up a frame to take the SC can holder

Put the two together

What did you do to your Jeep today? Kicked it and swore at it.

Needed front pinion bearings done, and seeing as how I wouldnt know a diff from what a woman wants, i took it to a pro. Did the pinion seals all good, but the axle tube seals were shot too, so sourced some more, and also got the aftermarket outer seals while I was at it.... all good.... then once everything was back together, the o ring in the front locker blows out, then the caliper retaining bolt strips, then the rear brakes crap out.......

..... then I stopped caring

On the flipside, I have just ordered a heat exchange unit from Helton in Australia. Bride was adamant that she was to have a warm shower this year while out camping, and I just hate having to boil the billy to wash the dishes.

Good to see Greg still powering out the great prices, and great service too. Have bought 2 lots of bits and bobs off him two weeks ago, and have some shocks on the way for another Jeeper too.

Fitted a hot water exchange unit today, essentially for showers for the ladies whilst at the beach, but also bloody handy for hot water to wash dishes etc, and not too bad for partially clearing our radiators etc too when in a pinch.

Picked up mey new hard top today.... its done the rounds, a guy in the Jeep club didnt want it any more and offered it to me a year ago, i passed, and RJ got it instead, hes found theres no room to store it, so i grabbed it off him today. Didnt cost a bean, whic is a darned site cheaper than the dude on TM trying to get $2500 for a 2nd hand one that needs painting!!!

First, from the good side.....
Image

Image

And then the part with work to be done. It had been horridly bogged in the top, so ive sanded all that back ready for a finish bit of poo and then a paint
Image

And the slightly harder part. It had been "glued" and then the original owner had duct-taped the whole rear corner together. Im picking ill get some epoxy and some more bog and set to work tomorrow.

Sunday 17th Jan:

The top section has come up ok.... just popped some black on it for the sake of seeing what lumps and bumps there still might be.

I eneded up at Repco this morning and got a fibreglass repair kit and got to work on the rear corner. cut some fibre and resin-ed it up and packed it into the crack, then laid more glass and resin over the top, rasped it, sanded it etc, all back, and applied the poo. And, compared with what i started with yesterday, im very happy with where its at for the moment. not perfect by a long shot, but certainly passable. (IMO anyway)

Next week the top will come off and get re-sprayed with an underbody sealer of something similar to get the original effect back. (and to hide the remaining flaws) Hopefully that will be that, until i smack it with something.

After deciding to have a crack at glassing the broken bottom corner of the "new" top last night, i painted it all up and popped in back on today.

Rapt with the result.

The busted up corner from previous pics:

As happy as a happy thing

MUCH prefer to play with glass than bog. After never having used glass before, i found it very similar to work with, when shaping, as a horses hoof [insert laughs here] No shit, my younger days as a smithy/farrier came into play when shaping the stuff, it was a breeze.

Now................ what's next???????

Took mine in for a WOF last weekend, needs a new front right wheel bearing. Currently tracking the one I bought across the US, bought off Amazon.com for $US80, slightly cheaper than the rumoured $NZ500+ for one here.
