did something about the appalling ground clearance on the shiny's/tow wagon bighorns transfer case ... measured 180mm from bottom of bash plate to ground!!!!

took off the factory bash/shite plate .. got back another 60 mm (im going to just mount a 5mm plate to the underside to give it some protection) and while poking around noticed that the nose was about 1 1/2 inches lower than the back so tweeked the bars up to get it to sit level ... gained back another 25 odd mm, hmm 85 mm difference is better! puts the lowest point back to being the diffs pumpkins

needs 33's though :?

Well after spending all week fixing my POS lux i thought I would treat myself and take it for a drive out to the beach. How silly was I!!!!!!!!! Busted the rear diff on the drive out there! Havent taken it apart yet as it's still sitting on the side of SH1. With any luck it will get stolen. So thats the second LSD I have busted in that. Time for some castor correction...

On a happier note, bought a pajero to be used as a whanau wagon/'pile the boys in and go for a mission' truck. Stock as a rock 88 paj with a 2.5L turbo diesel.
Going to give it a bit of s service.... Anything in particular people who have had experience with these think I should check?

keep up the servicing!!! they dont take kindly to being neglected, the 2.5's are notorious for cracking heads if cooked, so make sure your cooling systems in good nick , also they dont like revving .. mine sounds harsh anything over 3 grand. you can wind up the diesel "just a little" and shim the turbo to gain a few extra ponys. Gen 1 Paj's are pretty bulletproof running gear wise (mainly cause the 2.5 hasnt got the grunt to break anything  ) changing the air filter every service helps heaps with mine, Paj's really suffer when the airfilter gets even slightly clogged.

they are usually "dis'ed" by most people .. but they are surprisingly good wagons and if it wasnt for the fact that mine dosnt have the grunt/weight to tow the Mistress i wouldnt be selling my one... personally i prefer the way my old gen 1 Paj drives over my "newer" bighorn.

oh and i guess you have already discovered that they require written notice three days in advance to exceed 100kph

Just broke a rocker in mine(had parts truck) due to over revving

They're jellous that they made the wrong choice in wagons

Pulled the gearbox/transfer out to do clutch, had a problem with one flywheel bolt, now have to get new solid flywheel and heavy duty clutch. Have a bit of a clean up to do in bell housing from all the grease out of the duel mass

pretty decent weekend in the shed and good family time.

Welded plate into footwell and POR15 now completed on the tub. Dismantled (almost anyway) PTO motor and winch for cleaning ( http://www.offroadexpress.co.nz/Forums/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=18021 ). Need to take down to local mechanic me thinks to get shaft pressed out of winch and work out how to get the rest out of PTO motor.

Hope the 40th b'day and Aka's trip went well in sunny Wellington :)

Had a busy week and weekend in the shed, Hilux went from this last Sunday:

To this yesterday :

also did all the oils and brake fluid during the week and ran all the fuel lines to both pumps.
And then she was dropped off at the auto electricians to get the lexus wired up.
All going well it'll be drivable very soon (for the first time since 2002) :D

wheels got stolen. i supose thats what happens when you leave a truck on the side of SH1.

Whats my truck worth?
85 D/cab Hilux
Brand new maxitrac suspension with 50mm lift (leaves, shocks, shackles, u-bolts, bushes)
Runs a 350 chev through the hilux gearbox.
4.55 lsd's (rear is shagged, suspect just the pinion gear has fallen off)

If someone can give me a figure that would be much appreciated as I have a potential buyer but dont have a clue what its worth. Not keen strip it down as I am just so over the POS
