Badnuz's South Island whirlwind tour

hey all

Over new years a bunch of us paid our south isalnd entry tax and spent 2 weeks driving around :)
we mainly did the basic tracks to allow for the lessor capable 4wds in out group, but still had a great time! we took in Molesworth, Macetown, Skippers, Nevis and Old Man Range and danseys pass..
it was a great trip, you SI guys have got some wicked places to travel, we will be returning end of 2011 to do more!!

was a great trip, so much to see, so will be back!!!

What brand roof tent? Looks like you got to some good spots while down here 8)
Where was the tunnel?

WOW....

so, ya planin a return trip next year.... :wink:
Got a Daihatsu Something, hasn't got a Daihatsu engine.... or diffs.... and it doesn't have windows.... or doors.... but its got tyres.... :)

its an ARB rooftop tent :)
the cave was on a side track at Macetown
and yes, going down again!!!

Didn't realise ARB did a rooftop tent, but should have guessed :roll:

We hope to head down that way in a few weeks, so must have a look around Macetown again, will probably drive part way then mtb the rest

Have a read of this Dave....will be a good help so you k now what to look out for & where.

Thats a great link, thanks, much appreciated, a lot more to do than I expected down there, might have to spend more time there than I thought!

How did you find the old man range i'm going that way in a couple of weeks from piano flat end.

There is only one mudhole up there that can pull up trucks and then its just a simple snatch through. DOC really don't like shit as all the signs up there clearly state.
Good to see you have enjoyed the best palce to 4wheel in the world IMHO. Maybe we could look at a joint 2011 trip, local lads can unlock alot of land.
