Well good to be back in godzown away from all that snow & freezing rain!!!!
Done lots of 4wheeling on the wetcoast of Canada almost as wet as kiwi eh!! that was in tojo's (FJ40 & FJ55) the 40 ended up with a chevy 327 in it & the 55 had a 400 cui Buick with an auto trans, but I kept on rolling them.
Moved up to Dodge Ramchargers and Chev Blazers after that.
Had a few years away from 4bys untill 6 yrs ago. bought the smallest (at that time) diesel 4by in North America, a Dodge Ram2500 3/4 ton pickup with the Cummins 6BT 5.9L Diesel, now that was a good truck (for North America) especially in 60cm of snow.
Now I have a Mr Bitchy Challenger 2.8 TD and let the fun begin, er WTF have I just bought? new glow plugs and filters, starts good but after driving for an hour or so and you stop for a short time then the fun starts. Engine light comes on and goes into limp mode. It wont take any power (throttle) and only pukes black smoke if you do, but on the flat with light throttle it will get up to 110kph no problem, almost like the turbo is not working!!
I am going to the Local Mitsi Stealer (er Dealer) tomorrow to get the codes read and see what needs to be done.
I have down loaded the workshop manuals for the 4M40 & the 4M41 engines, has any one swapped these? Just looks like some plumbing for the inter cooler and the sensors, as long as its the early 3.2L with the VE pump and not the common rail one.
Any one got the code readers for these Challenger? I tried "evoscan" but got the bums rush around, not very good service over in that camp, any way his software doesn't work with diesel's but I ordered the cables any way.
Any halp from the Mitsi comunity is more than welcome, I know you other guys in your tojo's Niceans etc are going to give it to me But I can take it like a man. Used to tell every one in Canada that this is the place where Men are Men and Sheep are nervous!!!
It's good to be back
CK

Re: Back home after 38yrs in Canada
Great to hear from you.
I was working in Vancouver BC as a Boat-builder, Loftsman but always got away in the bush, lot different to kiwi!
If your there in Vancouver in a months time it will still be cold but no snow, spring is funny at first in Canada as the snow melts then it takes a little while to turn green again.
The Cummins is only available in the 2500 & up trucks not the 1500 1/2 ton. But it is still a capable truck for the North American off-roading.
My truck was a 1997 club cab long box.
How do you attach pic's on this forum?? cant seem to add them on to the page!!!!
If you have any other questions about the great white north don't hesitate to ask.

You can use photobucket.com to upload the pics and then copy and paste the [img] link directly into the forum post.
ORE has a galleries function as well but you need to be a supporter to use that I think...
Also set the default size in Photobucket to 640x480 as anything larger wont upload here...

Hi CK.
Welcome aboard!
What part of the North Shore are you in?
I lived on Hurstmere Rd in Takapuna for most of my time there. Loved all the water about the place. And the rain.
