Gen1, Gen2 A-arm swap?

Post by motorhead »

Looks like the arms will swap but not sure. Anyone done this so the ball joint flip can be done?

Cheers

Swapped out one side today and seems to be fine. Will pick up other side this week sometime swap it out, shave upper bump stops, flip b-joints crank torsion bars (cv's to 25 deg) and have it alined. Getting ready for the new 32x11.5 Mudstars :D :D :D

Gen 2 arms are longer. Am figuring what size spacer needs to be made, so far it looks like 4x12mm galv washers(thick ones) from Mitre 10 will do the trick and leave a little for the alignment.

Stock gen 2 arms on gen 1

With 4 washers

Let a little positive camber for the alignment guy to play with.

Lots of work to gain a few free mm

Yep, will be talking with Roger on Friday to see if anything has changed. Watch other post for updates. Did you get your CVs done?

Yes, Gen 2 ones are longer. The first pic you show with the big camber - is that after the ball joint flip?

The ball joint flip gives you alot of unwanted camber.

The washers you put in - make sure those bolts are tight. They WILL come loose unless you either put two nuts on or some type of thread lock and longer bolts.
SWB V6 Paj with one or two mods ;)

Washers are only temp to find out the width of the spacer. Yes this was done after BJ flip. BJ's and a-arms will be double nutted
