Re: Ultimate Toyotas
And the seat belts. Ive banged my head once or twice around there
Re: Ultimate Toyotas
I remember having a 4WD club run up the Rees Valley beyond Glenorchy when the 2.8 Diesel Hilux was just about to be launched. Heading up the valley we came across the 'pit' where the Hilux was dropped and waiting for the dog to catch up after driving off the cliff.
The pit was made by scraping the top soil off, putting hundreds of cardboard boxes down then putting the top soil back on. This enabled the Hilux to be dropped from the big crane they had there and then get the shot of it driving out of the 'pit' where it landed.
I couldn't find that ad on youtube infortunatley.

Re: Ultimate Toyotas
Not sure if anyone has started a FJ40 pix thread. I guess this thread is as good as any to post pix up to.
A person off the FJ40 facebook page added me as a friend today.
I checked out some of his pix and came across these ones.

Nup to the best of my knowledge Barry never got his hands on my truck, it was Toyota NZ's demonstrator for the first 2 years of its life and they did TV commercials with it but Steve lacey drove it in the commercials.... dont know if thats much better than Barry driving it

Re: Ultimate Toyotas
can someone explain how that black truck is classed as a fj40, i mean its been completely butchered. Just my opinion. I would like to know how anyone can class a truck as 'model' when they are no longer standard? other than body. hows that work.

yeah i get people saying the same about my 40. "that's not a REAL fj40".
I guess it's just how you look at it. I guess they're right. It's not an original FJ40 by a long shot. But I still love all 40's modified or original. Love the classic shape. And i love that dark green one above. The colour is awesome not to mention the running gear but that's just me.
