Which Battery?

Post by motorhead »

Which battery is for starting and which for accessories? Dead battery last nite, this morning swapped batteries around and started fine. Went out and got a new 730CCA one to replace bad one but which one is bad?

go to supercheap and get them to put thier tester on it. Or just chuck a multimeter on it and see if one reads lower. although they could both be at 12v which is why the tester that supercheap have is good because it gives you a 'health' reading which i assume is to do with the cranking amps.

I have a 2.8 gen 2 pajero, twin battery 12 volt.

The batteries died, wouldnt start, not enough 'go' so the relay wouldnt let them try. Once started they wouldn't hold charge overnight, I replaced them both, 4 months ago no problems since.

Individually they seem to hold enough charge to run my electric fences, but in dual not enough to start a diesel.

I had heard replace both at the same time as the 'good' one won't last much longer.

The battery closest to the front is the main one on a Paj. Most poeple in NZ get away with just one battery (the front one) - the dual batt ones came from the snowy areas in Japan.

Thanks for the info, I think Battery in back is now the defective one so I will have it checked to be sure. Will put new battery 730cca in front and older 580cca in back until I feel I need to replace it.

Skid, I was unaware of your voltage connections  , will check with you before I replace second one  .

Thanks all :D :D :D :D
