Post by taz01 »

I have GQ LWB High top Saffy which at 60ks shakes real bad but goes away at 65 and reappears slowing down at 60 but only briefly
Have done.

Checked Wheel bearings and slight tighten
Replaced Drag link with new adjustable
Replaced both tie rod ends with new
rearranged wheels all round the truck still no difference
Has anyone had this and how did ya solve the issue all i can think of now is panhard rod worn or steering box?

I went through all that shit last year including replacing the steering box, collum etc (everything except the steering wheel  ) and sorted it out with a wheel ballance in the end, got between 900gm and 600gm per wheel, still got a shimmy but no death shakes any more

I had the exact same same problem at the exact same speed, same truck but low roof

One of the power steering hoses was leaking fluid, not heaps but had to top up every few days, replaced this and problem was solved, no issues since

BUT!!!!

I had completely demolished the front castor bushes well before the shaking started but a theory could be that the power steering was compensating for the bushes.
The hose was a factory one, wrapped in a foam sleeve

The bushes were replaced about 2 weeks after the hose was replaced so not really sure if it was a power steering fault or a bush problem

Havn't touched any of parts you've done work to.

Hope this helps.

What he said, mine does the same when mud on rims. I blew a panhard bush completely & drove home like that & truck just wondered all over the rd but shaking wasn't an issue.
Try & borrow some other wheels & see if shake is still there.

There is no lift in the truck so no need for caster correction bushes...

Funny thing is mine has now started this... never had a problem til Taz01 came round and told me about his issue...

Had similar issue years ago with a truck with big tahs went through all the steering components over several months and finally tracked it to a knackered steering damper, when this was replaced, no more wobble. :D

had that with mine, pan hard bushes were stuffed, steering box needed adjusting a bit and one of the rims was slightly damaged. Check the leading arm bushes as well.
