WTD: Unimog skilled mechanic in Chch

no idea what forum to post this in but... I am looking for someone to take a look at a Unimog which is in CHch for me. It does have some issues I know of but keen to get a proper look done of it if poss.

Remuneration method up for negotiation. :)

Easy enough to hide a parts FJ40 from the missus in your wood shed under a tarp ....... How ya going to hide a big unimog thingy :lol: and how are we going to recover it when you try it out in your bottom paddock :lol:

And here you are telling us that the wife has an issue with buying houses and doing them up then selling them... what you going to do ... fix it and sell it as well?

The intention is not do-up and sell but something that does require DOC being nice to me :) And Jerry, I think the best plan for this one is to just come clean.. she know of the tarp trick already (she is pretty smart you see) and I doubt a Mog would fit in the woodshed door.. the 40 will have issues with 35's on it getting in there :)

I'm in chch next weekend to see family. I don't mind having a look at it for you if you can't find anyone else, altho I haven't worked on mercs much before, worked on heaps of macks, hinos, volvos. dafs etc etc though as im a truck mechanic by trade.

That would be awesome Dan, I doubt they are too different to what you deal with just with the standard Mog "issues" :) I will be in touch and sort out details with you (eg: colour of the beer bottles etc)

Lots of little (and not so little) things.

Some of the issues are:
Compressor leak, tie rod bent, transmission leak, engine main seal leak, injector seals leaking in the head, some parts need replaced (bloody expensive too) and then normal rust you see in any older vehicle.

a bundle of things that all adds up. It was sitting roadside for 6 weeks and no visible fluid underneath I was told. not sure how big leaks listed are.

have you tried startech for merc parts much better price than the stealership they bring in truck and car parts are most helpful got my spring perches for the g wagen usually get parts in from germany within 2 weeks
my 4wd is not a truck

old mercedes never die but sometimes they do need some love

older cars are good,mercedes are better,older mercedes are the best
