Anyways just wondered if it was normal for them to flex a lot. They just seem to be real thin pressed steel. It may be the bolts moving inside the shackles??. Of course the bushes allow a bit of movement but theres definitely more movement than I expected.
Given the rust in the seams between the arches and outside skins of the guards I may have to cut and push the outter edges of the arch up. This what people mean by virtual lift??
Cheers.
I was just winding you up on the SOA. I definatly wouldn't SOA a Zook on standard running gear, not unless your going to fit some training wheels
The stability of the truck when going accross a slope or ending up in a situation that you didn't intend is a big thing.
SOA will kill that. Your COG (center of gravity) ends u in the clouds.
Unless you put some lux axles under it, then you have the exta width to maintain a good COG.
The leaf sprung 413's flex the best, better than the later model coily's.
As the word "flex" suggests, stuff has to be able to move, deform, bend and give.
The best combination for off road in a zook is some nicely worn in leaf packs, the soft squishy factory rubber bushes and some foam cell shocks (not gas pressurised).
The standard shackles are all good, thats all i'm running. Bent one on a rock though
