Mystery handle on GQ dash

Post by webfish »

OK - another stupid question from me.

Fist time owner of a Safari, LWB, '90.

To the left of the steering column, half hidden under the dash is a little lever ... almost looks like one of those dash mounted hand-brakes. Got a lot of Japanese gibberish written next to it.

WTF is it ?!

Hi, this has been covered before.. there is a cool search function on the right hand side of the page that is really helpful....

This is a rear sway-bar disconnector, pull it out to disconnect, push it back in to reconnect it.

Hmmmm - the search returns absolutely nothing for

sway bar
sway-bar
sway bar disconnector
sway-bar disconnector

... except from my post.

Of course I had no idea that was what it was before.

Anyway, sounds like something I should leave alone.

Thanks for the help guys :D

Use it when your offroad to get more flex out of the rear end.

If you knew it was for the sway bar you wouldnt be searching "sway bar" try searching "handle" as you asked in your question?

Now now kiddies don't all pounce on the new guy.
It is a question easily answered by a haynes manual though so get one of them for future reference first. You'll find it real helpful.
