BJ42 transfer trouble

Hi team
as per title have small problem with transfer low range.
when working under load (right when it is most needed of course)
low seams to pop out. get slight grinding of gears. have adjusted up linkage but still has problem. no trouble travelling in low just on hill work.
anybody got any ideas.

Hook up a bungy to keep a good bit of pressure on it. It's just a sign of age...
