91 GQ Dash Cluster Swap/upgrade

Post by bobrocket »

I'm trying to figure out if I can swap my dash cluster (no tacho) to one with a tacho, its 24v with white numbers, I've looked at same year safaris with different colored numbers (yellow) their the same plugs and except the center but different pins on the plugs go to different things,

Don't suppose anyone has a white numbered cluster that I could have a look at or if anyone has done this swap and could give some guidance?

I thought they were pretty much all interchangable (GQ), but then, I've never seen one without a tacho before :?

i have seen a few without tachos, they are beyond basic with plastic flooring and just the bare essentials, even down to the cigarette lighter being a plastic blank, there was one for sale local to me on trade me for around 8 months. nothing stopping you upgrading, loom is the same, just the sender units were not fitted for various items, second hand stuff will be easily obtainable.

i often wonder what all the extra wiring is behind my dash and that is a grandroad version, what other extras do you get??

Yeah like that big plug covered in the soft transparent plastic cover to the right and up of the gas pedal.
phone Ross Bolus (secretary of the BOP club) He'll save you.

Got a quote from Robinsons to get one wired into the empty spot, $260+, which is similar to the price for an aftermarket one.
All the wiring is in place at the dash end but how can you tell if the bits at the other end are there?
I'm guessing the sender is at the fuel pump somewhere?
