80 Series Landcruiser - bigger tyres with no suspesion lift?

Post by DirtBoy72 »

This is all a bit new to me so excuse my ignorance.

I have just purchased a 80 series landcruiser. I want to set a up a touring wagon, but capable of some good off roading on sand and the odd forest trek.

I think the suspension is pretty standard. The current tyres on it are 270 / 70 R16s. Would it be possible to get some larger tyres on it without a suspension lift - say 285 / 75 r16. All 4 tyres need replacing, and i'm also thinking about replacing the factory alloys with some steel rims. Any ideas on a retailer who would do a deal on wheel / tyre combo. I'm thinking BF Goodrich All Terrain TA's or Cooper S/T's. Happy for suggestions. Thanks

prob 33s max with out a lift

give it a simple 2" lift and 35s will fit easy
80 Series on 35" creepies, manual with twin factory lockers.

if your wanting to do touring etc then 285/75/16 with a 2inch lift will be sufficent without comprimising road manners, you can go up to 4 inch lift pretty easy thou!!...any bigger than 33/285 and you'll loose some grunt....

you can get different spring rates to suit your loads and they still flex up pretty good :)
