Bench to bucket

Post by Armourguard »

Hi guys

I have a 1973 FJ40 and have just pulled out the old bench seats and was wondering if there is a straight bolt in bucket seats out of another year that would work :?

Go to the nearest car crushers (not wreckers) & see if they'll let you scavenge some seats. Worst case you might have to make up a couple of brackets if the rails don't line up. Mine cost $20 for a pair of Honda Prelude buckets...

I've never had a problem. It technically requires certification if you don't use the factory mounts. Mine has a couple of doctored mounts, but it all looks original at a glance, so it hasn't caused a problem. The rules are here, if you can make sense of it: http://www.lvvta.org.nz/SeatAnchorageStd01032006.pdf
The key bits are at the end of the document - Page 52/53 - (exclusions)
