Hard spot in steering

Post by nick.falconer »

Hi

I've just changed the steering idler as it failed its wof on that. And now when I turn left it feels like there is a hard spot for a bit then goes back to normal. It happens right at the start of the turn only and I can't feel it when I return the wheel to center. It only happens at higher speeds like 40km/h plus. And the faster I go or harder I turn the worse it is.

I was thinking that maybe it needs a wheel alignment or I've done the nut holding the idler arm to the relay rod up to tight.

Thanks
Nick

You should get an alignment done as soon as possible after modifying, adjusting or replacing steering gear items.

check the idler arm isnt rubbing on the chassis.. you will see scrape marks on the chassis if it is.
