Entry fee is $300 per vehicle, you must be 100% fully self sufficient for the weekend

Re: Superwinch Tuff Truck Challenge 2010
I will be entering but not till next week. Gotta pay Norwest entry this week.
Still a bit concerned about the refund date given norwest is only 2 1/2 weeks prior. Lot of money to commit and then risk wrecking at Norwest. Think you would find if guys knew they could still get a refund if they genuinley wreck at Norwest you may get a few more.
But in saying that my entry form is sitting on my desk awaiting a cheque and stamp

Re: Superwinch Tuff Truck Challenge 2010
I know what your saying about putting money up for an event that you may not make.
From the event organisers point of view.
We need a certain amount of entrants to not make a loss. If we have a heap of unsecured entrants that could pull out at the last moment then we are at risk of losing money.
We're not a charity! We're here to run an event and hopefully do better than break even.
We're committing a whole lot of time and money to this event. We expect some sort of commitment from the competitors. Turning up on the day with cash just isn't gonna work anymore.

Yeap understnd the organisers point of veiw.
I am not saying we shouldn't commit and I am more than happy to do so. Just feel that should someone genuinley wreck (beyond reasonable repair) their truck at nor west they should have a day to make contact and still get a refund.
If it is damage from club trip, or even a non 4wd related matter that means you cant come thats life, a refund date has been set.
In reality there may only be one truck that has to withdraw but should they have to suffer a $300 loss because of damage from a comp in the same series?

Re: Superwinch Tuff Truck Challenge 2010
Yep. That's exactly how it should be.
We run our club safari's the same way. There is a cut off date for pulling out and if you drop out at the last minute then your money still goes to the charity we are fundraising for.
Maybe you can answer me this? If this is a series and the distance between events is so critical. Then why has norwest decided to run an event so close to the superwinch event?
Cheers

Hi George ,I dont want to get in a sh#t fight ,but we first advertised this event back in June last year ,also we are running club class only with the no reg /wof and 4 point cage correct me if im wrong but up untill a few weeks ago you were requiring a 6 point cage and reg/wof which would exclude 90% of the current club class trucks .So what are you trying to say ? Steve
Re: Superwinch Tuff Truck Challenge 2010
George,
Norwest OHV decided to run their 2010 WC event over Easter Weekend 2010 back in March 2009, this was when it was made public to everyone who was at the event. When I spoke to Pete at Taupo 1000 late last year, he was still unsure if the SuperWinch was even going to go ahead. So Norwest was already in place well before Superwinch was.
I can understand the reason for the need to have cut off dates for entry fees, but alot of competitiors will not decide to enter until they have got Norwest out of the way and assessed the damage.

That's not like you Steve. Your usually well up the list to have a nudge. ha.
We are running very open rules. We have gone to the 4 point cage and allowing non wof and rego vehicles for club class. I've even made up the scrutineering sheets to match the two classes.
I thought Norwest were taking a year off and not running an event this year? That's what I was told.
It doesn't really matter though. It's the same old story of competitors not wanting to commit to an event. There should be enough challenge class vehicles to fill this event. What happened to them all? Are you racing Steve?

Thanks Smiddy. You racing again? One day?
Still can't run an event and make a loss every year. Really takes the shine off it.
Re: Superwinch Tuff Truck Challenge 2010
Hi George hoping to get down as i think pete runs a top class event ,just that at the moment trucks taking a bit of a hammering setting and running the tracks ,(we want to run them all at least 3 times so the first truck has tracks to follow) will know for sure after this weekend ..steve

There is a South Island truck in Wellington at the moment being prep'd for Superwinch.....but rumour has it you'll have to chase Simon for the entry fee

Re: Superwinch Tuff Truck Challenge 2010
We would really love to be there, sounds like its going to be a awsome event
Not that we would be missed, and I'm sure no one really gives a shit, but just for the record, we can't finance two events so close to one another.
I won't wreck the truck at Norwest, but won't be able to pull both entry fee's, fuel and accomodation together in time to fund both events.
At this stage Norwest get priority as its more wheeling for less money
Bring on sponsor ship!!!!

Re: Superwinch Tuff Truck Challenge 2010
Late update.
We have a grand total of 2 entrants for the Superwinch event. We need another 18 before the event is guaranteed to go ahead.
You have 12 days left to enter before the pin gets pulled.
Fingers crossed there are that many trucks out there.
Enjoy the weekend.
