mp3 players / ipods

Post by skid »

righto, my daughters birthday is coming up in a few months and I wanna get her an ipod or similar mp3 player.

wanna know what is a good buy as theres a few out there

just wanna play mp3s and maybe store some photos in there also, not too interested in video capability coz it will use too much space and maybe out of her capabilities

she will be turning 7 and will probably only use it for music

what do you guys suggest and how much capacity should I be looking at

throw up some links to options via trademe or similar

cheers

Wots yer budget skiddy .....

wasnt quite thinking that much, but could be prepared to

also, scared of any samsung product, had too many issues with them in the past

besides, shes turning 7 and the novelty will wear off after a few months, so extravegant spending is being silly

There are so so many different mp3 players around. But in my opinion... get an ipod. simply cos they are just cool! You can most certainly get better value for money with other brands but again, ipods just have that cool factor about them. Also, as she is seven, ipods are far far easier to use than most other brands. The click wheel is great. Nice big colour display. heaps of storage space. One of those new ipod nanos would be perfect. Can fit as much miley cyrus on there as you want and still have space for storage. Plus you can get them in pretty girl colours which im sure outweighs any functionability when it comes to seven year old girls.

Get her an Ipod, you pay a little more for the name but you don't have to get the best one, I got the Mrs a nano, plays video, music, pics and the itunes software is a bit more friendly than others.

Pretty much everything "chevrolux" said

Trade me is great for deals but new tech seems a bit disposable these days, sometimes the good old 12 month warranty can be good thing.

And the points for coolness should carry for at least 2 months before..............

i recommend Sony mp3/4, they are drop and drag for loading music on to them, and very user friendly.

You really can't go past an Apple iPod. They are hands down the most simple and intuitive to use. I would still have one if some cock hadn't nicked mine.

Finally- someone sensible.

She is SEVEN. Granted- she probably won't need to put music on herself but why wish that shitty I-tunes bullshit upon skid (or anyone)

The fact you cant just drag and drop MP3 files over from folder to folder is a major negative as is the price.

you can get her a flash looking one for not much and it simply does not need more than a gig of memory.

good responses

keep the advice coming thru

oh yeah it will have to be PINK

but there wont be any of this 'mullet wearing daughters music' on her player

she is a rock chick thru and thru, made her a CD yesterday at her request with only the music she wanted after listening to the shitload on my comp *metallica/iron maiden/acdc/grinspoon etc etc etc

caught her in the truck the other day with the stereo on loud and her headbanging away like you wouldn't believe  8) 8)

also, as daddy will be loading it, then it has to be bloody easy to load music onto, so if ipods are tricky, then they will be outlawed

DSE are the best place for them my daughters both got mp3 players there for a good price (they paid for them themselves from the money doing junk mail deliveries). Staff are helpful as well or online and get one delivered.
