Advice with Samurai mods please

Post by Southcity »

Hi Guys

New to the forum and would appreciate some simple advice. I have purchased a Samurai (Std Front axle type - not independant) and would like to know the following:

I would like to gear it up a bit and wonder what wheel and tyre size selection has been proven best? What size can one go to without turn circle issues and front bumper fowling? Would it be best to jack up slightly to take bigger wheels?

The Samurai has only done 80k's from new and seems to have some slack in the drive train. I suspect its transfer case. Is this a common problem? Whats the best option here? Are there recommended replacements?Gearbox appears nice and quiet and functions well.

Clutch is a shocker. Vicious! Common?

Who does this work in ChCh?

Your advice appreciated.

Hi Darryl

Appreciate that.Any idea if the 30's will fit with existing front bumper? Where am I best to get the new shackles?
Whats your experience with transfer cases on these? Is it likely that the slack in the drive train is the transfer case? What replacements are available?

Cheers
