My Brother in law has a very tidy 1992 (?) Nissan Safari Grand Road, that he has owned from more or less new.
He thinks the standard suspension is getting a bit tired. He doesn't really off road it in any serious way.
He would like to know who he should talk to in the Auckland area to get advice about a) if it is worth doing anything to the suspension and b) what?
So please let me know:
a) LWB Patrol ('cos that is what a Safari is) suspension/ and/or shocks likely to deserve "refreshment" at this age?
b) anything obvious to check?
c) any aftermarket kits favoured?
d) any workshops specialise in this/ or generally familiar with the vehicle and the best approach?
Cheers - Simon
Suspension for a Nissan (but responses please from all)

My 1988 Safari swb is 4 years older and seems to be fine it gives a good ride and all seems to be sweet. It has been used as a farm vehicle and for fairly serious 4wding. It's got 165,000 K's on the clock.
There is a 4wd company in Glenfield on the North Shore called Motortech they may be able to help you, they have a workshop and I belive they do work on Nissans. There custom offroader is a Nissan Safari flatdeck.
It would be worth giving them a ring or popping in. They are fairly on to it.
Also he should pop in to Nissan and have a chat to them.
Hope it is some help

You havent stated the kms its done but a 92 must have done over 100,000 km's by now so it would be worth changing the shocks if he is planning on owning the truck for a couple more years. They my feel fine ,but i bet you will notice the differance with new ones.
I just did my rear shocks on my Hilux surf & couldnt believe the differance. Now if only i could afford to do the fronts as well.
If he wanted to make the on road drive even more comfortable you could replace some of the bushes as well ,but its all about what you need & how long you are going to own it.Or basicly how much money do you want to invest in it
