Would you lot fark off and take womans weekly bull shit with you!!!!!!

We just got rid of petefjcocksmack40, and now we got some new contenders to take his place :?: :?:

C'mon we are all 4wder's, lets stop acting like desperate house wive's looking for some drama to spice up their live's, get off the forum and get out in the shed and get your shit heaps mobile so you can actually get out there and do some farking 4 wheeling!!!!!!

Stop this online womans weekly shit!!!!!!

If I want to read about your bullshit invclub politic's, I will read the thread thats says "Nelson club, who's got the bigger penis".

Instead I open open up the thread that contains my fravourite recreational area in its tittle, and I have to put up with two page's of your womans weekly crap?????

You need to learn how to use a forum, and also to build some bridge's with the 4wders in your repective area's and get over your self's.

We don't want to know, New Zealand doesn't need to know, and quite frankly no one other than your selve's care's.

What we do care about is you lot cluttering up our forum with your dribble.

You should all be on the band bus for a few months untill you can learn how to behave on a 4wd forum.

Sort your shit out else where, and untill then, stop posting irrelevant crap in good threads.

Pleeeeeeeeeease :D :D :D :D

You don't need to read the stuff you know! You could just start a new topic about Maratoto and ignore the fact that there was a irrelevant discussion happening on this topic.

Anyhow since there's interest in Maratoto, I'm going in on 28 March with some Auck 4WD vehicles to check the trail condition and see what will need to be repaired this autumn. It may be closed earlier than in previous years to allow the digger to get started.

Peter I'll be there, as usual.

You have mentioned before about dragging metal up there to fill some holes. Still an idea? Will there be any planting or just digging and cutting this time (could be too early for planting saplings in there).

Hey Rohan,

My parents live in Paeroa so accomadation all sorted. Are we still sorted for joining you on Saturday. Our plans are probably doing wires on Friday, joining your group on Saturday for Stadia, Nationals on Sunday and Thompsons on Monday. Trying to find someone who has been right thru Thompsons lately to find out what the last few kms are like at Tauranga end.
Looking forward to catching up with you guys and doing the usual truck perving etc. Hopefully we dont embarrrass ourselves to much.

Cheers

Darin, a reminder that a $10 per vehicle donation is requested for the use of the Maratoto (or Wires as you refer to it). There is a yellow box on the corner of Maratoto and Wires Rd.

Hi Peter,

Yep well aware of the donation box and always put our donation in.
Also do you know of any places of interest along the track. Have heard form some people about some relics and remains of some shanty.

Thanks

Reputedly there are old buildings up there but I've not yet found them. The most accessible relic is a stationary steam engine up by the Tairua River. Access is alongside a small clay pit on the right, shortly after you reach the river flat. The walking path is rather swampy and a bit indistinct.
The only other relic is the remnants of a Kauri dam but it's about 1 km from the steam engine and the route is largely unmarked through dense undergrowth.

I am visiting Maratoto this Sunday to review what maintenance needs doing, so will be able to provide an outline of conditions next week.

wow looks sweet! cant wait!

Very nice vid. Only problem my terrano faces is deep ruts (standard ride height + annoying low diff = stuck). Im sure i can negotiate most of it!

Cheers!

I too was in there with Alan last weekend and it certainly was dry in most places. There are some wet holes that have formed and at least one place where you will most likely lean against the clay bank. Some rutted sections exist. The biggest risk will be if there is rain while on the trail, as it is quite hard clay and with a coat of water, it will be like driving on ice!
I'd still recommend that at least two 4x4's travel together if not winch equipped.

The loop trail is very rough and rutted at present with good clearance and winches needed. Bodywork will look different after tackling the loop.

Right thanks for that. Im not too worried about denting the terrano... a million spare parts for it haha. I think there is a group of 3 of us going so should be alright. Will just make sure i am 100% certain i can get through areas before diving in :), not sure if i will do the full loop this time around

Thanks!

Thanks Peter (oh and I was tempted to put a smart comment about chasing trip leaders :P ). And yeah, don't do the loop unless you are fully equipped with safety and recovery gear.

On the main track the ruts are fairly deep in one or two places and you might scrape the diffs a little but mostly the sides are sufficient for you to drive over them if you are careful.

Of course, now that you have had all this input we must insist on (a) photos, and/or (b) utoob vid. ;)

Got there at about 2pm Friday. Was very quiet, went up the track and around the loop clockwise. Couple wet spots, but couldnt make it up the big bog near the end of the loop! So close!

So turned around haha

A Terrano going around the loop WITH OUT A WINCH?????

Pic's or it didn't happen

You are mistaken, you didn't go any where near the loop, especially in a standard Terrano.

The Katikati side of Thompsons is like SH1 compared to the Wires Loop

HAHAHA, wasn't by myself so if i did get stuck i had someone to tow me out. Was stoked at how my wrangler MTR's performed though. (i even forgot to let the air pressure down! woops!)

Most of the loop was quite dry, only few places i had to give it some juice! Got some videos of the last bog i couldnt get through. But have to get them off my mate first. Then ill prove it :D :D

Holy crap thats one staunch Terrano, did the Wires Loop with out tow hooks and a winch and didn't even get one dent, and both bumpers are intact

I'm coming with you next time we do the loop, I hate panel damage 8) 8) 8)
