Hi Yah
9.5 or 8 inch?

I know you said Chch but have you considered importing one?
I purchased my last ring and pinion set from the States.
http://www.justdifferentials.com/
Was 1/3 the price from one from aussie. (same brand)
And 1/2 the price from a local.
There are cheap sets out there but quality is in question.

Ordered it Thursday nite kiwi time. Arrived on my door step the following Monday.

Hi

2 questions

1. How can I tell what is good quality diff parts?

2. how do i tell if the Local Mechanic is any good at fitting/adjusting the parts? Are there some questions I should be asking?

There were some chineese / asian / mexico ones out there...
So I was told by a Chevy man..
So I went USA made.. Havent had any issues yet.

Diff rebuilds are an art.... Even if you set them per factory specs, the gear patterns can look bad.
The lads who do them day in day out have the eye!.

Dont know any one in Chch..

But I use
Diff And Rear Axle Repairs
09-276 6297
3/32 Saleyards Rd Otahuhu Auckland

He knows his stuff.
