4x4 Action Magazine Lives

Post by Jungle »

I didn't know which forum to put this comment in. So I chose events because that is what the magazine is about in many ways.

It looked pretty doom and gloom for a while there with the mag but we are back at the printers and issue 69 should be on the shelves this week.

We've got some great new content in there too.

Please, check it out!

Cheers

I don't know how many people I have the discussion with.

It's generally cheaper to subscribe to a magazine than buy it off the shelf. You always get it before it hits the shelf and quite often subscribers get other benefits like t shirts and beanies.

Yeah, I know all that

Makes perfect sense 8) 8)

And this is meant to be constructive........

:!: :!: BUT :!: :!:

If you want to expand your reader ship, then the magazine needs to be more easily accessible to the public.

To do that it needs to be in more shops.

There was a thread on ORE a few months ago where people on here, yes thats right, 4wd enthusiasts, that hadn't even heard of the magazine.

Several people commented that they had been out and tried to find the magazine after reading about it in the thread, and couldn't find it in any of the 5 or 6 books shops they visited around town.

They are hardly going to spend the $$$ on a subscription if they haven't been able to read a few months worth of magazines first to ensure they like it are they????

What do you do when your in BP waiting for your coffee to be brewed?? You have a browse through the magazines.

What do you do in the mall while your waiting for the missus to find that perfect pair of shoes?? You go to the book shop and pick up an Ozzy 4x4 mag.

I'm sure there will be a lot of people that would agree with that logic :D :D

Keep up the good work, its awesome to see it living on

I tried to subscribe via your wesite, even went as far as a 2 year sub to get the flash tee shirt, didn't get a reply.

That kinda sucks. How long ago was that? Private message me your details and I'll follow that one up. Not sure what the state of the website is. Are you still keen on a sub?

I've only had a 4WD for a couple of months, but I have bought a few issues of the mag, and it's brilliant. :D I can't believe that it comes with a DVD each month as well, it'd cost a heap just to produce the DVD... let alone the phonebook sized slab of glossy paper...

I've just bought the NZ4WD magazine for the first time tonight, and it's cool that it's all Kiwi content. but its 200 pages thinner than 4wd Action, has no DVD and didn't come with a free second mag about camper trailers/custom utes etc. I'm not saying that I expected it to, but it's a pretty obvious comparison.

NZ4WD cost 8 bucks at Countdown which didn't seem too dear compared to most of the other mags, but 4wd Action is only another 2 bucks extra and it'll keep me occupied for heaps longer.

Agreed on the availability though, I only know of one bookshop in my town of 80,000 people that stocks it...

Aussie is such a huge market. Should we try and push our mag over there?

Bit odd having a vintage 4wd parked in front of an old shed on the cover of a magazine called "4x4 action" :?
Apart from that, good photos as per usual

I don't get your point Pedro. Are you saying that you can't own a magazine name or that i'm not an owner? Either way, You can own a magazine name and I've been a part owner for the last 2 years!

theres been lots of half stories floating around for a few months so maybe clearing the air and filling the whole story in would go a long way with the new re-launch of the mag?

Nice idea.

I couldn't even imagine where to start. Not that I'm going to.

Those that know me are more than welcome to come and talk to me if you want to know my side of the story.

Public forums are not the place for that sort of thing!

Are you still a part owner or have you sold it off?
the magazine was on the market for sale earlier this year. Did it get sold or not?

Would be nice to know how long it will stay given the money issue rumours that are floating around. Makes you think twice about paying up front to renew the sub.

I'm still a shareholder in the company along with Bobbie that bought the magazine a couple of years back. But the company no longer owns the magazine which was sold to cover some of the debt it incurred.

The new owner of the magazine has not inherited this debt and will be able to make a fresh start.

I think the magazine will continue to grow with some fresh input and some good financial backing. The advertising is the real key to a profitable magazine and that has really started to pick up.

These new people are in it for the long haul.

Jungle

p.s. Did I mention that Darinz is a columnist for the mag now. That should get some conversation flowing.
