Looking to come to NZ for ace off roading...

Post by Maf in UK »

Hi,

I'm Maf from Plymouth, England, came to NZ a few years ago and found it to be my favourite country... like the look of the off roading there... planning to visit again and thought I'd say hi, I run a couple of Jeeps, Cherokee... which we've turned into a crew cab for the tight lanes we have here and a Wrangler that I use for tougher lanes and punch hunts.

If anyone is visiting the south west of the UK, we'll be glad to show you the tougher lanes, help run a small club.

Cheers Maf

Thanks, glad you like the Cherokee... yeah the douth west of UK is nice, some great scenery, slower pace of life as well.

Not sure when I'll get to NZ... the sooner the better I think.

Just started looking into work permits etc....

Basics... yeah lots of sticky mud, that is at the local pay and play site near Plymouth, we are running a punch hunt there soon, always good fun.

Cheers Maf

Winch challenge where you have to get your truck to where the punches are - a bit like orienteering.....except they put the punches in silly places.....like in the middle of a lake.......

Punch hunts are not as tough as a winch challenge, for a start they are punches for non winched vehicles, the pace is more relaxed (we waited 20 mins at the start of the last one for everyone to get going). You also do not need a high spec vehicle, people compete in pretty much stock trucks with just some muds.

Our club and another had a club challenge and we took the best three and worst three scores of each side, pleased to say we won... on their home turf, great day out with both sides helping each other.

They are also simple to run and enjoyable for all... we even get families entering... and winning....

...and yes the pasties are great here.... wonder whats for lunch :D

Thanks that would be great...

Don't worry they even have cold beer here in frosted glasses now... but a few people still drink the dirty warm beer, which we think is normal beer served warm with Land Rover rusty nuts and bolts in :D
