electrical cable needed

hi guys,

im looking to fianlly get some power out to the garage ( its only taken 3 years to convince the missus that yes i really do need lights, and a fridge and a tv and the list goes on). Shes finally come round to the idea.

what I am after is an elecrtician or someone in the wholesale of electrical supplies. I need about 40 m of 4mm ( at a minimum - bigger IS better) 3 core tpl to take the power from the house to the garage.

Ive been given a price already from somewhere but it seems a little excessive (but ill be trying other places tomorrow anyway).

anyone know of any places that are cheapish? or one that might have half a roll or so ( i could prob get away with 30 - 35 I think)

think i,ve got a half drum of 4mm out there somewhere.what are you planning on doing out there.ie are you welding ,running a compressor etc and if so what size comp and welder are you likely to use.this relates to what size cable to use .do you need swb stuff as well etc etc . will look back at my invoices and find out what i paid for it .and i will be heading over that way the weekend after easter .

Is 158+gst any good for 40m of 6mm cable?
or 120+gst for 40m of 4mm

I've delt with the place before and they're pretty legit. I've got coax cable from them much cheaper than other places I tried.

Less than $4 a metre for 6mm is pretty good. Unfortunately (for us sparkies) is bunnings sell tps pretty cheap these days

I bought some 6mm of trademe (45 metres of it) for $155. I was stoked with that. I rang a place and was told $48 a metre for 4 mm. so pretty stoked. Picked up a brand new rcd as well fairly cheap.

now im just after a fusebox - got any lying round sig?

can put something together pretty cheap .how many circuits do you need.can do a basic board with main switch and 3 mcbs for about 40 bucks
