Re: ln107 steering idler
i see no one has replied to this post so i though i would. If you are running a suspension lift you are more susceptible to bending steering idlers. This is because of the increased angle of the tierods. there is not really much you can do about it. I believe there is a company in the states though who make custom made extra strong idlers for this purpose. Without this the only way to make them last longer is to drive smarter not harder. i hope this helps:D
Re: ln107 steering idler
Ive got the same problem with my 130surf, looking at trying to see if i can find a powersteer box of a left hand truck from the states and take a few of the guts out. Apart from that im stumpted.
Re: ln107 steering idler
here is a post i started on the aussie surf forum a while back. It has the web address of the modified idlers. hope it helps http://www.toyotasurf.asn.au/forum/view ... hp?t=23860
Re: ln107 steering idler
does the In107 idler tighten at the top like the KZN-130 one?
Downey (no longer) used to make a brace like the Calmini one for the teranno.
basically a plate behind the idler that had tabs with holes for the top and bottom of the idler bolt. supports the bottom a bit better and stops the flex which flogs out the bushes and starts the slop which cause the arm to bend.
however Every time i drive the Surf "hard" the idler bends in the middle of the arm though. Custom Chomo might be the go ,but is going to move the weak point somewhere else.
