First time workin on a Diesel - 2LT no fuel

Post by WideLoad »

Hey guys,
Never worked on a diesel before and have just put a 2LT into a LN65 that was orginally non turbo. Can't seem to get any fuel to the motor, was sitting round for few months but have checked the lines and they are clear and has a full tank of gas. put in a new filter but when i pump the manual pump on the filter it's not drawing anything through. I have been able to suck fuel through from the hose leading into the filter though. I've tried bleeding the air out by undoing one of the injector connections and turning it over with no luck.

Any suggestions what to try next?

Cheers

have you pumped on the filter pump for ages, because sometimes it takes awhile to full the filter with diesel. A trick for this, is to pre fill the filter with diesel before you put it on.

if theres no fuel getting to the filter then there is no point in trying to bleed the injectors at this stage.

take fuel pipe off injection pump so you can see when fuel has come through. use compressed air into the fuel tank (only need a few psi) to push the fuel up and through the filter.
once its coming out of that hose, put it back on the IP and take off the return pipe. same again till you see fuel coming out.
