Wanted to borrow- cage trap in hamilton .

Post by flyingbrick »

Our property here has tons of trees and each night this bloody great big - thing- decides to go for a romp around on our roof. Its heavy and sounds like its walking on two legs. Definately not a cat so guessing its a possum as they dont put much weight on their front legs while walking on flat ground?. Wondering if someone here has a trap i could borrow. 0211632717 Txt me if you can help. Something not lethal would be good as i do not want to risk killing someones pet.

I think the instructions that come with the live traps show sticking the whole trap under water with the animal still in it. Bit rough but effective.

They reckon drowning is one of the best ways to go  dont have the trap yet but hoping its soon. the bastard wakes me up every night when he/she crosses the roof.

If i was in the country I'd not hesitate to knock it off with either my .17 or my 7mm08.......................

ALTHOUGH I do live on the outskirts of fairfield; from what ive heard the neighbours are probably used to a little gunfire. I'd probably hve to scream something like "CRIP CRIP" first though so as to not arouse suspicion.

Yall should hear the other animals in and around this house. The roof has a large family of rats. They run around and play inside the celing without a care in the world. They have so far managed to stay away from my traps which i find surprising. The penut butter I used tastes pretty good to me!

Anyone local with a high power air rifle and spotlight wanna pop over tonight to knock the bugger off? could be good for a laugh. 0211632717 txt only

Gotta find a body of water big enough for that to work actually.. whadda ya do? fill up the bath or throw it into the neighboes pool?

I've been thinking about all the awesome things i could do with a life possum.
- Let it loose in the flatmates wardrobe for him to discover when he gets back
- Let it loose in my managers office during lunch time
- book it into the vets and tell them its the family cat; I could act all like "she has become so agressive recently, im not sure whats wrong"
-find two more live possums and learn how to juggle

So.. I got a trap.

Trap went bang- One less possum to run around on my roof at 1am.

The bugger didn't even have time to spit out the bit of apple he was chewing.

About 5 min after he got snapped all his friends came along and had a big winge about it- made one hell of a racket and i was surprised that they were even smart enough to know and get upset about it.

Also caught a rat in the celing.
The other rats ate most of him.

I should start a Nathans pest removal thread. Its my new hobby.

Got it ! ...hahaha
I had a similar incident with a friend in the roof cavity.
Thought it was mice, laid a trap.(mouse)
2am it went off (Above our bedroom) and I could hear it being dragged thru the roof.(Missus crapping herself)
Next morning no sign of trap or culprit,
Second trap (mouse) but screwed it to rafter.
Snap again at 2am....Morning revealed nothing in trap and the arm all bent up.
Got a bigger Rat trap, (wooden) tied it to rafter and you guessed it 2am bang, clunk bang, sqeek. for 5 mins....all quiet.
Got up there expecting to see a dead rat... nope empty trap.
Down to the hardware shop and got a mother of all traps, steel with steel teeth for jaws, cut my finger setting it. (felt a bit like Tim the Tool man Taylor urgh urgh.)
Screwed it to the rafter... Bang Got it......

Hope all the other possums dont have a funeral tonight on yah roof.

  Nice story mate.

Rats are crafty bloody things actually. have set the rat trap a few times since the last catch and 3 times they have set it off and licked off the penut butter and ive caught nothing. I dont know if they are walking over the trap from the wire side LOL and being catapulted through the celing cavity or what.?!

Theres this thing sold at the field days every year and its a plastic tube that drops a docking ring around the neck, body of mice and rats. Works a treat. But so does my rat zapper trap I won from the field days last year  . Everything is a sucker for peanut butter as a bait.
