Hey guys and gals!

There has been some interest in log books, what they are and how they work. As mentioned above, the best people to talk to are 4X4 Challenges (http://www.4x4challenges.org.nz) as Id hate to get it wrong. I have asked Darin if he would be able to jump on this notice at some stage to clarify the benefits of having a log book and the process to obtaining one.

I hope this helps.

Thanks all,
Cam

For more info on logbooks go to http://www.4x4challenges.org.nz/membership/ and there are all the forms and info needed to join 4x4 Challenges and get a logbook. At present the logbook fee of $20 has been waived so as long as you join then your logbook is free.

Everything that has been done around the new classes and logbooks is to do with providing safe, fair and consistent competitions. The basic rules have not changed. If you have raced before then chances are your truck is up to spec so all you'll need to do is take a couple of photo's, fill out a rollcage spec sheet, list the mods etc around the truck and send it all in. We will be able to issue your logbook and audit your truck prior to RWC as long as you send the required paperwork to us ASAP.

Once you have a logbook then it will only need to be updated when you complete further mods or if you damage the truck to the point of needing a further scrutineering. Remember as the vehicle owner YOU are responsible for the safety of your truck. All we are responsible for is setting the standards.

At the end of the day it will cost you $26, then $6 per year after that and it means you only need to have a current WOF rather than one per event or no WOF if in Club class.

I will be scruitneering and those with logbooks will find it a quick easy process. Those without, will have to do a lot more to prove worthiness.

Some key points to note. The rules state that the truck must be to WOF standard of mechanical integrity. WOF or no WOF does not change this! Also read the rules and understand them. Not knowing is NOT an excuse.

It is probably better to contact us via the link above than clog this thread with questions not relating to the event itself.

Hey guys!

Just thought Id give you all a quick update on our entry status to date. We have had a rapid and overwhelming response of entries for this years event. As per the list in the first post, we have received 24 entries for the RWC2010 ..... and we are still receiving entries! :)

The RWC2010 Committee will be meeting in the near future and will look at options for the extra entries that have and may come in. Whether we extend the capped number of entries, or verify confirmations from those in the capped list, or have a reserve list are just some of the ideas that will be discussed.

I will post on here to keep you all updated once the RWC2010 Committee have made a decision.

We have the following extra crews show keen interest:

25. Peter Haigh - Truck 70
26. Craig Lintern - Truck 08 (South Island)

We've booked a motel with heated pool and thermal spa! Nothing like a hot pool when it is so cold you don't need ice in the bourbon.

Hey lads and lasses!

Sorry for the delay in comms over the past week or two, I've been a busy lad on the home front and have been awaiting confirmation of various items from the RWC2010 Committee before formally releasing information, and getting too far ahead of myself.

I will however give you some heads up on timings for the event (to be confirmed, but are fairly concrete).

Friday 9th July 2010

Scrutineering - Kingsgate Hotel, Rotorua - 0900 to 1200
Two day stages - 984 SH30, Horohoro - 1300 to 1700
Two night stages - 984 SH30, Horohoro - 1800 to 2200

Saturday 10th July 2010

Six day stages - Phoenix Road, Mamaku - 0700 to 1700
Two night stages - Phoenix Road, Mamaku - 1800 to 2200

Sunday 11th July 2010

Four day stages - Phoenix Road, Mamaku - 0700 to 1400
Prize giving - Kingsgate Hotel, Rotorua - 1500 to 1600

We are just under eight weeks away from the event but I'm sure that will creep up on us pretty quick, so will email through as much new info as I have available each week with any reminders etc attached. To check out the updated competitor list, take a look at the list in the first thread.

Just a reminder, "Entry fee for the RWC2010 is $270.00. A deposit of $70.00 will secure your place on the grid, with the balance being required no later than the 11th June 2010. You are more than welcome to make payment in full prior to the cut off date of 11th June 2010. Payments can be made to:

Geyserland 4WD Club
Westpac Rotorua
03-1552-0203644-000

Please use your surname and truck number to identify your payment."

For those of you who would like to ..... camp out ..... I will confirm having persons "onsite" in the Mamakus on the Saturday night. This will ensure a physical presence and security of any equipment and vehicles that may be left in the Mamakus. I am working on a couple of camping options for Thursday, Friday and Sunday nights as well taking into account room for race trucks, trailers and service vehicles! Wish me luck and watch this space!

Alternatively, accommodation can be booked with Kingsgate Hotel Rotorua (http://www.millenniumhotels.co.nz/kingsgaterotorua/index.html) and the Grand Hotel Rotorua (http://www.grandhotelrotorua.co.nz/). If booking with either of these, tell them you are attending the Rotorua Winch Challenge to receive discounted accommodation. You can also check out Rotorua Accommodation (http://www.rotoruanz.com/accommodation/) for various accommodation options around Rotorua that might be suitable within your budget.

If you have any questions, comments or queries, please feel free to flick me an email to Cam@team-camz.co.nz and I will respond within a day or two max.

there is NO provisions for spectataors due to location and access permits. However if your support crew for someone or a marshal you get to see all the action  do you know someone competing?? im sure they need support crew??
If you already know everything, DON'T ask bloody questions!!

Hello
Due to forestry restriction the event is not open to the public and the thought of making sure each member of the public had the correct equipment to the enter the forest is just mind boggling.

Your best bet is to offer to marshal and assist with the event. I'd give Cam a ring on 0212050761 and offer to help. He's the event organiser.

Best of luck.

Cheers

George
