my weekends work so far

cheers for that Coxsy, thankfully the PTO cable is brand new :D
Just found out that the truck was owned by Mum and Dad (who have had it since "new" err off the boat), gave it to teenage Son who started to "boy race" it ... found blue Neons under the dash!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!    and has a stupid tiny little aftermarket sports steering wheel (getting rid of it asap) and typical f@ckoff loud Thump Thump stereo :? .. thankfully for Nissan whale owners worldwide he decide he wanted a lowered V-tec and sold the Whale before he did something stupid like trying to lower it and put 20" bling rims on it
Dads fair p#ssed at son as he'd spend a fair bit of money upgrading the suspension and getting the PTO serviced and working.
oh btw how much was those rebuild kits? and are they hard to do (remember I come from a IFS background)

Stripped the welded diff apart that blew last queens birthday weekend. Both spiders split in half, spider shaft broken in 2 places, side gears missing most of their teeth, pinion chipped, bearings slightly seized. Cut some tube inserted between side gears and welded in place. drilled through 16mm and put winch fairlead roller pin through and welded in place. welded side gears to carrier (hope the welds hold on that metal as i think its cast). Will put back together tonight and in the rover this week.

the only mechanical issue I can find is the slave cylinder needs replacing and the clutch needs bleeding (apparently a common and b*tch of a job in GQ's) so changing gears requires a little pause and a double clutch to get in first and second .. no biggie at the moment , reminds me of driving my father-in-laws old TK Bedford  [/quote]

Hey Bud, the slave cyl are a piece of piss to replace and when I replaced mine the complete new Slave Cyl was around $75.00 from BNT and the rebuild kit was about $10.00 dearer so it was a no brainer really :D

Spent all day Saturday reworking the wiring looms to fit all the altered positions of pretty much everything. Lots of cuts, relocating, rejoining and heat shrinks

Then got roped into (only on Friday) judging the Canterbury building apprentice of the year contestant, huge day for them, start at 8.00am and finished at close enough to 7.00pm.
Ugly is a state of mind..... and the state of my truck!

Was accused of having rust in the cruiser by wof people.
I pleaded no contest and set about working
Sills done. Now both back window surrounds to do. I think 70 series owners can relate to this???

Gotta start planning the repair process from the damage filled weekend.....still drives ok on the pavement.....bit harsh with rooted engine mounts and gearstick back about 2 inches.
I keep looking for the loose nut behind the wheel, but I can't find it!!

Did a bit more prep for the winch challenge, and had a walk through the stages I'll be marshalling. "The Marathon" and "The Rock Garden". Well named.... And drove one of the night stages. It's gunna be an AWESOME weekend, but there's not much room for error without panel damage...
