Pulled stater motor out and put new brushes in it, and did oil change

fitted axle oil seals repacked wheel bearings with grease,lubed the swivel bearings fitted the hubs on the truck,new grease in the cv's , pick up the locker some time too

Removed broken front diff, after last weekends antics. Couldn't resist having a look inside. I predicted three broken teeth, I was wrong

Lucky I have a spare complete diff ready to go. Tomorrows job to fit it to truck.

shoulda just turned it around 1/4 turn then slapped it back in.. would have still worked mint

Took the Gq in for a wheel balance as i had a slight shimmy at 80k's found out that the tyre is de-laminating *bugger* so am going to have to bite the bullet and put my other tyres on ... was hoping to hold off and only use them on club runs but never mind.

discovered the steering dampener is knacked while under there so will be ordering a new one Monday

oh not 4wd but how about this as a bush repair ... my son broke the door handle on the Hyundai and they frigging want your first born and your right leg for a replacement ... thought bugger that let's think outside the box ... repair cost $8.99 for expoxy glue and a used rivet stalk .. works just like a bought one and prob stronger than the farking stooopid plastic original oh and ive still got some glue left if you want to fix your diff siba

Ah....cheers for that. Don't think glue will cut it though.

Finally started working on my beach buggy
Had my first ever go and bending pipes with my new bender. Turned out a lot better then expected. Only thing I found was the the two rollers left dents on the pipe. Although I am using big pipe (old netball posts courtesy of a school ).
Today I put the two top side bars on and the front 'grill' bar. Going to put a cross on the top but dont intend on this rolling over. Will have a hilux axle at the rear and be powered bu a little toyota 4k (1300cc). I may get bored of that though and put a hilux axle on the front

did recovery patrol at the North Waikato stage of the rally yesterday, was good to see the big names up close, man they boost out of the start. Fairly quiet day, couple a tows then right at the end a 1 1/2 hour recovery of a local car down a bank on its roof, needed 3 winches to get it out, 1 each end and 1 to the side.

Went on a club recce around a number of the paper roads between Dairy Flat and Kaukapapa. Mostly pretty overgrown and very dry.

Some pretty ansy yokels

We weren't hooning and were driving real slow and careful like. But as one "nice farmer" put it, the council should have phoned him to let him know we were coming so he could give his consent to our driving on "his land". Such a nice friendly lad.

Had a look at Boathouse lane. Been a verrry long time since anything has been through there. Gorse up to 1m high in the middle of the track.

Went to Whangarei this morning to pickup front and rear diffs for a v6 Vitara and the auto and tcase as well, Couldn't not buy them at the price they were, so now got to think of another project to use them

Even though a paper road gives you a legal right of access, if its over a farmers property its pretty ratshit not asking for access and just rocking down it.
Of course I have no idea what the situation was or anything about the area but farmers can apply to have them removed if need be and the process isn't that difficult if it doesn't go to anywhere of interest or value or property lots. So you may lose a future wheeling spot if the farmer has a piss about it.
Farmers are much more likely to happily let people on if you ask....even if legally you don't have to and its just out of courtesy. I'm like that in respect to my own property and maybe I'm an "ansy yokel" but I know many other farmers feel the same (In my area at least). Just something to consider maybe...

If the car is a 4dr, try putting damaged handle in the rear door that will not get used as much

90% finished painting the LR, fitted the rear diff and then re-fitted it after I remembered in the shower that hadn't done the cap bolts up after adjusting it , plumbed up the fuel lines, fuel tank, two fuel pumps (low pressure high volume and high pressure low volume), put guards and doors back on and started preparing for roll cage. Got the 33" bfg's put on rover rims and the sat's back on the surf. Finding a spot for the spare wheel is going to be interesting!!!

well we have a key for a few roads around in the Rodney and a good relationship with the council. The agreement was that if we were going to have any sort of trip, whether it be recce or an actual run, that we would let all landowners know who's property backs onto the road. It was mostly put in place to keep the horse people happy.

However in this case the contact list for the owners was lost and we did find out the surnames of the owners and the people using the roads just had t call to let them know they were going. So if a number wasn't listed or something then that was our (me and my mum) faults. we will have the new contact list soon.

I had a great day up thompsons yesterday- went up the east side with the goal of getting to kati for a beer and re-fuel- turned around 60 metres before the "bombsite" but walked through it and had a look. FArk it must be hard getting trucks through there!

went with 3 mates- I rode a CRF230 and it was my first time riding through thick clay and over slippery rocks on a bike..I kinda didnt realise how big some of the rocks and boulders were and how rough the terrain is.

Well I agree and paper roads do all kinds of weird stuff. But in this particular instance the road was clearly a boundary between different farms from one end to the other. For example people had planted trees along their boundaries. It was also clearly used by the locals as a general grazing and play area because there were various bits of horse jump gear and so on spread about. On one map too, the road is clearly signified and doesn't disappear like they sometimes do and at the end we exited there was even a sign post with a road name pointing up it. It was gated of course. So, well, you see...

Sounds like a right of way maybe if its a posted track. Or can you get privately owned roads??. We have paper roads on our property with no identifying marks at all, sometimes a gate. I just know what its like when people just help themselves for lack of a better term and go on the property via paper roads or queens chain etc etc. Even if legally they can I get hacked off cos if they are too slack to even check its all good then how are they gonna treat the property ie gates open and closed, harassing stock, ripping up pasture, pinching shit. You guys are probably pretty careful if it was a club directed drive but we deal with far more cowboys than sensible people asking for access so everyone gets painted with the same brush unfortunately. I figure a lot of other landowners feel the same is all. Not a jab at you guys just a general thing.

Sigh. You are right of course. To be honest I have not done those paper roads up there before because of all the shite that came down with idiots messing it up for everyone else.

Still, it was nice little drive through some country lanes, with one puddle and one deepish hole to makes things a little more interesting.
