Jimny or Samurai

Hi,
appreciate advice and others experiences with both. I already have a GQ Safari and am considering a smaller 4wd as well. Sorry if this has been covered before (probably many times).

Jimnys are coming down in price and Samurai appear to be going up in price (well the good ones appear to go for good money and are snapped up pretty quick).

What are the pros and cons of each - are the Jimnys as strong as the Samurai and SJ413?

Any advice appreciated.

Ha this is the exact same thing I've done. I've only had experience with leafy 413's and samurais. not long distance road cars esp when setup for offroad but unrivalled when offroad, esp on the real skinny overgrown tracks. Parts are relatively cheap I've found.

Jimny - good road manners ,comfortable , modern engine , power steering AC etc ,expensive parts , few aftermarket parts available , hard to modify ,hard to fit bigger tyres on. Dont flex well. known to break stuff when pushed off road even in stock form.

Coily - Looks like a samurai but with coil suspension - same as Jimny

SJ413 / Samurai - bad road manners , uncomfortable , cheap ish parts , easy to modify , loads of aftermarket parts - absolute weapon off road with just a few mods. tough and will take a beating. suffer badly from rust

Thanks a lot. Sounds like it would be best to wait for a SJ413/Samurai to come along. Don't really care about road manners as it is not a daily runner (commute on a bike and have GQ for long trips). I have googled Jimnys and there are some amazing ones out there but I guess they have spent a fortune on upgrades.

Will Jimnys eventually become the successor to SJ413 with the later getting older and harder to find?

Go samurai man they are simple to modify and there is heaps of cool aftermarket stuff out there for them

....... and stay away from the coily Samurai, well known for bending panhards, breaking arms, breaking suspension mounts off the chassis, not flexing and there's a heap of parts that aren't interchangable with the SJ413 and leaf sprung Samaurai such as diff heads and swivel hubs etc etc which makes it tricky and expensive when you break stuff.

the brits love their little suzukis. a mate of mine brought a tricked out jimny over with him when he moved and its awesome offroad. Havn't asked about how tough it is but the few trips we've done has proven its capability at least. But yeah parts here are expensive. And yeah watch for rust in the 413's. Pretty hard to find rot-free ones but they are out there.
