Pouto and Kaiwaka queens birthday
Pouto and Kaiwaka queens birthday
Well I thought I may as well post this here.
I am organising a trip up to Pouto on the Saturday, which is the 5th. We will go on at... and drive down to Pouto point. I will be trying to see if we are able to stay at the Pouto hall the night and then head back to my dad's farm in Kaiwaka. We may drive back up the beach or straight onto Kaiwaka. Depends what people feel like doing at the time. The farm has been used for national trials before and it is heaps of fun.
Just wondering what the interest is like at the moment? how many people would be keen for something like that?
Cheers

thats all good nigel,
The farm is pretty dry, so really it just a chance to look round. I would like to do a fun trials and grasskhana there some time this winter, Could even be done as a fund raiser.
Will let you guys know when exactly we will be there.

Re: Pouto and Kaiwaka queens birthday
Hi all, sorry i have been busy and in short should have done the ringing round to find accommodation myself etc.
I have some updates: On the sunday we will be meeting at the Wharehouse car park at 09:30-09:45 and will be leaving there for the beach at 10:00.
On the Monday we will be meeting at the farm at Kaiwaka at around 10:00. PM me and I will send you the address. This day is just to look round and have a bit of fun. It getting nice and soft and the holes are starting to fill with water.
Now on the Sunday we will be having a BBQ at Pouto Point, this will be $10 a truck or $5 per person and it will only be a sausage sizzle. You want steak, Bring it yourself.
I would like to know approx numbers sooner rather than later so I can actually get the food etc
On the accommodation side its up to you, The hall is booked by the fishing club on queens Birthday so we can't stay there. However we can use the camp ground or i can try and book a back packers in Dargaville or some where nearby. Any one know any good places? please let me know if you need or want accommodation by Tuesday if possible.
Cheers

If I can get 5 trucks in total who want to stay over night, I will book some camping spots for us. I need to know numbers by tomorrow evening please. otherwise you can just rough it in a car or be civilised and stay somewhere else.
You will need to pay for your spot if you want to stay at the campground.

not too sure at this point in time, but if it's like any of our club runs will be a good turnout on the sat, 1/2 doz or so staying overnight maybe

Re: Pouto and Kaiwaka queens birthday
Hi all, an update on the accommodation side of things. I have booked two cabins at the Dargaville campervan park and cabins on Gladstone Street for the Sunday night. One sleeps four and the other sleeps 5. The cost is $22 per person. 3 spots have been filled already. There is showers in each cabin, and camp kitchens available too. We will have a BBQ at the beach if the weather is fine and if it is raining we will have it at the campground..
Also if any one has a spare seat it would be good, we have a French guy who is coming out and it would be cool if he could go with some one for the day.
Cheers

Thanks Lincolin for a great weekend trek.
My Camera didn't come out to play so don't have any pics from the action.
But see how much mud made it home. Still plenty there for next time

If any of you others have some good pics, I'd love to see them.
Cheers.

I keep looking for the loose nut behind the wheel, but I can't find it!!
Re: Pouto and Kaiwaka queens birthday
Thanks Simon. I had a good day too. Really noticing that lack of power now though
I only got a bout 3 pics and the rest were vids, and not many of them either. But my dad would be happy as if we were to do maintenance work in return for access to the farm. No just to get the members on board.
