Mustard Whale, Fj40 build
Re: Mustard Whale, Fj40 build
Well ive been looking at gettin a new project brought up from canterbury, so I priced up transporting it from chch to picton which was only $190 + $130 for the ferry. He seemed pretty keen on that idea, but hes still flying up to have a look tomorrow.

Wow. $130 to get yourself and a vehicle across the straight on the ferry is cheap.
I got a quote to get myself and my 7m boat + the fj40 across two months ago. And it was just under $1000 each way. So we flagged it.
When i brought my Holden 5yrs ago. It cost about the same to get it transported via Jeffs Transporters from Auckland to Christchurch.

Re: Mustard Whale, Fj40 build
Well the 40 left with its new owner
, bound for fairlie in canterbury in the pouring rain

Had to wrap a tarp around the cage to keep the rain off, not sure how long itll stay on
I did promise some pics of the rekitted steering box , all up the seals cost $16 from pacific seals in petone.
Front input shaft seal in its housing(the one that was leaking)

For those who've never seen it this is whats inside the early 70 series steering box

The part in the top right of the pic is where the recirculating balls live, if you leave this part alone an dont let it unwind itself an all the balls fall out, then itll be ok
All back together ready to go

If anyone wants to know how to pull it apart im happy to explain how I pulled this one apart
