Hi, can anyone tell me if a transfer case out of a 1996 samurai (coily) will fit a 1985 sj413?.

The flanges will be different ( possibly swapped over ) and it will not have the handbrake on the back ( again may be able to be swapped over ) .
If its still a gear case then it should be able to be installed . I am just not sure when they went to the chain t/case . Thought it was the jimny but it may be the coily's , more I think about it I am sure it was the coilys . The bits may still swap but I have never seen a coily case so not sure .
Sounds like an expensive way to get a t/case for a 413 .Would think a 413 case would be easier to find and cheaper .

yeah, mates 413 has a stuffed one and i have this one out of a coily lying around and thought i could save him some bucks

From memory coily cases are chian drive, weaker, slight different ratio, flanges and mounts. Like every thing else coily, not compatible with anything else.
I'd be looking for a 410 case , cheap but still have to change flanges, but will help with turning those bigger than stock tyres I'm sure it's running.
