Transfer question?

Post by suzookyman »

Hi, can anyone tell me if a transfer case out of a 1996 samurai (coily) will fit a 1985 sj413?.
cheers Al

The flanges will be different ( possibly swapped over ) and it will not have the handbrake on the back ( again may be able to be swapped over ) .

If its still a gear case then it should be able to be installed . I am just not sure when they went to the chain t/case . Thought it was the jimny but it may be the coily's , more I think about it I am sure it was the coilys . The bits may still swap but I have never seen a coily case so not sure .

Sounds like an expensive way to get a t/case for a 413 .Would think a 413 case would be easier to find and cheaper .

From memory coily cases are chian drive, weaker, slight different ratio, flanges and mounts. Like every thing else coily, not compatible with anything else.
I'd be looking for a 410 case , cheap but still have to change flanges, but will help with turning those bigger than stock tyres I'm sure it's running.
