Plan to stop an unformed legal road on Kaipara South Head

Rodney District Council have a proposal to stop Highams Road on Kaipara South Head which has annoyed many locals who would prefer that that existing legal access to the Kaipara Harbour is retained for boat launching and general access to the shoreline.

A request for support from the wider community has been made and information can be found on

Comments need to be with the Council by 2 June.

The submission period closes June 2 so only a few hours remain to get your comments sent off to Rodney District Council. A short sentence saying 'no' to stopping Higham Road and including your name and address is all that is needed.
