Would anyone have access to a tyre re-grover for rent or borrow??
I've asked a couple of tyre shop's, but cannot find any...
(Disclaimer: not for competition or road use!)
re-grover?
re-grover?
It's just more fun in a lada !!
Re: re-grover?
You are allowed to use a regrooved tyre on the road but only if the tyre is identified as having been specifically designed for regrooving after manufacture.
Re: re-grover?
Just go hard with an old soldering iron and kraft knife
Re: re-grover?
have a look in the speedway shops. they are often used on dirt racing tires.
Re: re-grover?
Can bend one of those things you use for scorching wood (Don't know the correct name - but you can write stuff on wood with it), open out the heating wire a little bit and voila, can use it to cut chunks out of tyres.
Re: re-grover?
will try a couple of speed shop's, see if they know of any.
I'll look at making a new blade for a 'hot knife' (got one at work) if I can't find one somewhere else...
I used knife for front tyre's, it went well, but back tyre's are softer and 'grip' onto blade better so it's harder to cut through...

Re: re-grover?
brother in law puts 3 blades on his skill saw too make it cut wider grooves and uses that for his speed way tires.
Re: re-grover?
Wonder if you could clamp three diamond blades together in your angle grinder or something......

Re: re-grover?
I've seen a grinder used before and works ok. All good for thin tread but its hard to get nice open slots that can clear. We've used it on tyres for sand use only but in mud I'd expect them to clog up real fast. The multi blade thing might be better perhaps. The heated cutters can cut maybe 20mm rectangular slugs out of tyres and I'd guess would be faster though.

What about a router?
