Legal Tyre Size Increase

Post by NZ LUX »

Hey guys,

I'm looking at putting some bigger feet on the hilux, but have also been wondering about the legality of it.

Are there any proper laws stating the guidelines for tyre size increases?

I'm only looking at going 33"x12.5".

Any help would be great.

Funny thing is that there are a lot of certs done, but never have the tyre size on the plate. It would be detailed on the paper work at the time of the cert, but seems strange they quite often don't put tyre on there

Your right all the trucks ive certed only get the rim size put on the plate not the tyre size.
Toyota Landcruiser FJ40, front and rear lockers, 35" simex.
Toyota FJ45 build in progress.
Tires are like boobs, they always look big until you have played with them for a while, then you just want a bigger set.

Hmm that's weird. Why bother stating the rims, but not tyres?

Also, does it cost anything to get bigger tyres certed?

There's a few things that i'm going to do that also need certing so would it pay to hold off for now and get everything done at once, or as things get done one by one?

I'd get as much done in one go as possible.
