air lockers (again)

Post by Heath »

So I see TJM make a locker for the 90 series prado rear end but not for the front (maybe I can use a different model's front??) and ARB make them for both ends. I am toying with locking up my toy and was told TJM are cheaper (havent checked this for myself yet though so it may be wrong...)

So what I am after are the prices (ball park will do) people on here have found and what their experiences (good an bad) are with either brand. why they went with one over the other would be great too.

Which would you recommend it to your best mate or steer them away from basically. :?

It would appear that ARB is more popular (by the poll results so far), but I thought they had problems with oil blowing past the seals and back up the airline (and fcuking the compressor). So buggered if I know.

Is it that they have been around longer so have the greater market share so have consumer loyalty?

They are both around the same price, are similar in construction and operation, so what is the reason for one over the other? :?

the test is in issue no 148
Eaton E lockers are $1695
it took 6929 ftlbs of touqe till axle broke twisting the axle 79deg
this was 200ftlbs more than the ARB or the TJM
no compressor to fit and when not turned on you still have your limited slip

Will get a copy of the mag. I already have the compressor fitted and most of the wiring loom so its just the heavy lumps I need (and their switches).

Oh and its got to go in the 90 series prado so that means they have to be avilable (which narrows things down a touch too.)

Exactly. Can't fault a product when it is poor workmanship that is the problem!
