I've got one, hard to fault really. It's tiny, can be mounted upside down, seems to have a pretty good range and has a remarkably loud/clear speaker. It doesn't have as many features as some of the more expensive radios, but it's also alot cheaper. I guess you just have to ask yourself if you'd really use the features on the more expensive radios.

They're doing them in a bonus pack with a ground independent antenna now too.. kicking myself because I bought mine a week before that pack was released.

Unfortunately the pro530 is an AM unit, whereas the afore-mentioned TX3100 is a UHF PRS unit. Comparing apples with oranges in other words.

Think computers dude. One that used to take up a huge room has less computing power than the laptop your sitting at. Is that to small and not working well

That looks like a great unit. a 5W dash-mounted unit (even if somewhat less ponderous than a dehydrated, anorexic flea on speed) will still be substantially better than almost any hand-held.

I never realised they had got them that small!

I think it'll be ideal for the V6 when I get onto building it up as the other (Uniden) 5W dash units I have are approximately the size of the main engines on a Saturn-V booster in comparison.

good on ya mate,i got sick of hand helds that ive been using, they are fine for average stuff but when your wheeling they just dont cut it

i have had my TX3100 for a couple months and used it a couple times. seems like a pretty good unit but...

to start the speaker wasnt loud enough for my roudy beast so got the external speaker and put that behind my head in the cab which is fine when im not wearing a helmet and racing...

but when i am i use the external speaker out and plug it into the main stereo AUX in and crank it up and then i can have my winch man REAL LOUD and i can hear him

see how it goes during the RWC comming up

sweet little unit

my drawer making for the rear of the 80 took a turn for the worse, so I had a go at installing my matchbox radio instead

it fits easily into the spot where the altimeter etc used to be above the rear vision mirror, couldn't really work out where to stick the microphone holder, so put it next to it for when its being used on trips and when its not being used, you can either remove it or stick it above sun visor like I did to get it out of your mirror view.

as soon as I left the lockup, I passed Stinky on the motorway, so called him up...........

when he finally answered it was a rather scratchy voice that was coming out of the speaker and the signal came through in spurts.
I put it down to the fact that I had run out of terminals etc and hadn't got the chance to run an earth yet.

by pure fluke there was a 5 minute gap in the howling southerly and torrential rain today, so I grabbed flatmates terminal assortment and shot outside to finish the job off.

grabbed my borrowed handheld and drove off down the road talking to my flatmate for ages before turning around and driving back again coz he said the 2 watt handheld was losing signal.

at the moment its mounted in a temorary long term position (my favourite saying) until it stops working or the wiring needs re-routing

totally stoked with the purchase
recommend buying one if you're in the market
