Changed the seals on the diesel pump, $15 bucks for the 2 seals, and no more leaks.

Big relief as initially thought I was looking down the barrel of $600 bucks plus . Workmate was quoted $1100 to fix the leak on his bighorn.

Also "clearanced" the inner guards to fit the 33's (waiting to do the body lift plus different offset rims)

today was a good day.. h2o had a 'connection' that plasma'd the spring perches off my housings , and this morning a parcel arrived with 4 fixed pin spring perches arrived, new.. sweet .. also last night i pulled the rear spring packs apart and am removing a leaf aswell as surface crap and repainting and then put some anti friction stuff between leaves before repacking them.. tomorrow, hopefully go do more a blast a few bits.. will post more if i do...

Got the rear fully welded and started on the rear disc conversion. With tyres measuring 33" (measured with a tape measure), I have 315mm of clearence under diff.

removed bull bar and front sump guard
cut factory tow hook cut bumper centre out
fitted new winch plate bolted on free winch (from work) two rated tow hooks and wired up winch

modifyed bull bar to fit around winch plate and fitted on truck all cool and working great

suprising what you can do with a good angle grinder

got too make bracket for front number plate (sun) and all will be fine

Had a huge cleanout in the shed, bolted my old comp. deck onto the back of Bretts truck, ate humble pie and signed back on to ORE (promising to "harden up" - thanks Reece ) and bought a new cellphone - Rik, you are NOT to move the doors at the shed (where I hang the phone to get reception) without expres permission, signed in triplicate, returned, lost, filed again... etc... Steve, when I operated my buisness from that same shed I installed an aerial which I left up on the roof, it plugged into the back of my cellphone and gave me superb reception, is it not still there
If so, might be worth trying to get a plug to fit your new phone

Cheers for the P/Steer pump Steve it is all now mounted down on the bottom left hand corner of the 6m. The alternator is on the top with just the adjustment "thingy" (please note the proper Niblik terminaology) left to do. Will now pull the alternator down and give it some new brushes etc and that should be 1 more problem solved.

Is any one running Subaru rear discs and if you are what size is the master cylinder required. I have a Cressida master and booster, and can't seem to get the pedal to stop before it hits the floor. (there could be a sneaky airlock somewhere, but I can't find it).

Well I had a successful day yesterday - Welded the new shock mount onto the rear axle, made up new brake lines & bled the system, Wired up the battery so it now sits in the back (box under passengers seat no longer accessable due to new seat mounts). Tidied the shed & took the 90 for a test drive It's the first time it's been out the shed for 12 months now so was very excited. Managed to drive at least 1km before it konked out - rebuilt the dizzy & away we went again.

After lots of thinking and not enough time I got to do some work on my Hilux. Nothing Major, Just dropped the tyres off the rims, tidied them up and put them back on. That will save me having to answer the embarrasing questions when my customers ask me why we have a ute parked at the shop sitting on it's rims!
Also fixed a cooling leak and shifted a seatbelt so I don't go flying out the window.
Now if I could just find out where the 5m that I bought is then I could go get it and drop it in!
Soon I will have the power!

I finally changed all the locks out in my Surf, drivers, passenger, tailgate and ignition, so that I now have one key for everything.

What a mission that was. The doors and tailgate aren't that hard, just a little fiddly and there are always the little plastic clips and door panel clips that break.

The ignition was a major PITA. I had scored a complete column with barrel and indicator/wiper stalks so it looked the easiest way was to swap everything over.

That was until I found that the column I had came from an auto and has slightly different electrical connectors and different pinouts on the ones that are the same.

So I swapped all the bits over from my old column over onto the new column and then refitted it all.

Great having one key that works everything.

Glad to hear it.... now I get to skite about what had me amping I had almost finished an adapter and now its finished I now have dual gearbox's hehehehe

Will take some pics soon of it installed, at the moment I've got the second box apart and I'm replacing all the bearings to make certain it can handle the load, I've pulled reverse gear from it no need I'll never use it... hopefully pick up the bearing kit tomorrow

Hey anyone out there got a two piece rear drive shaft and mounting bearing ?? I was planing on running one to the front and setting both front and rear D shafts to the same length

Well friday night me and my m8s were mucking round in a suzuki alto in the wet on huntsbury lost a bit of traction. Car kindv half pie fell dwn a cliff down into a lake sorta thing. Got dark. Started to snow. Took 6 towropes joined, 2 truks and 2.5hours to get it back up after being very surmerged (although it does float sorta well).

Got it goin on saturday after giving it a good tow and drove it home it just doesnt die!! Will get pictures if i can get them of my mates phone.

Then moved up to hamilton 2day to live 4 six months to do a course. Still needa get my surf up from Chch. So next time you guys go up thompsons I mite come along either bring the surf of the lil green lj50.

Damage I heard of and saw, exploded Patrol steering box, Clems rear diff, surf f/w hub, Suzuki rear axle, a few broken winch shear pins.

That hill is the killer When putting in the tracks i smached the front right Cv ,on landing and full lock to the left with the locker in front , Then on the day . Right at the top of it after driving all the winch sections the rear diff went clunk and some teeth came off then drove that hill you hit the tree on rangi lux (as scott would say) , drove half way home before hade to put it in 4wd and remove the rear drive shaft . I must go to bed before 3 am to bet the frost that was on my pillow in my tent I grate group of guys and gals there and fun by all . Thanks to all that came The school kids will be able to play in the sand pit (with there 4wd toys) in any weather under the new all weather sail . Thanks Klem .

Geez what are you driving for a $162 fill, thats at least 3 rugger fills and 2 and 3/4 diesel vitara fills.....

The little vitara's are known to have a smaller tank offroad on the longer trips also I have heard if you hit it in the wrong place youre stuffed ie theres a pipe or something at the back if you crush squeezes the fuel line INSIDE the tank

My calculator reckons my 90litre cruiser tank of 95 octane at the current price of $1.81 comes too $162.90 fo a fill. Havent put that much in yet but got just over $150 into it a few weeks back, can't remember how much a litre was then.

I think I can just squeeze 400km of economic driving out of a tank?

You can get 150-200L replacement fuel tanks and secondary tanks for them!!!!
