Best to shop around a bit and find the best bang for your buck, some of that shit can be pretty thin and see through, try and get 100% merino or close to it and not 40% merino/nylon blend
Re: Thermal Underwear
Kathmadu when they are having one of there 50% off sales. Merino right through fleece outer layers and good down jackets. Just dont go pay full retail, youll need to get a mortgage first
Toy - Zuk chassis tub, hilux 4.88 axles and transfer, Nissan CA18DE motor and auto trans, sc12 supercharger, 32 10'5 simex, twin motor 8274 custom freespool. Well the parts are all there in various corners of the shed

Re: Thermal Underwear

70 series prado (KZJ78) and 90 Series Prado (KZJ95)
Re: Thermal Underwear
Farmers have them for $49.95 100% merino wool and they are great! I have one at the moment and will be getting another one next week.

Re: Thermal Underwear
Lane Walker Rudkin factory shop in Christchurch (Brougham St) has merino long johns for $20 each. Far better than synthetic - especially if there's any risk of being around fires. Like a vehicle accident, or standing around a bonfire with beer in hand...
Re: Thermal Underwear
Skiddy, just go to your local retailer and ask for a product called "Ardinup".
Thats what my Father always used to tell me to use when ever I complained about being cold.

Re: Thermal Underwear
I've used ice breaker the most of any merino but I've still found that body temp regulation is the key. If the merino got wet from perspiration and couldn't evaporate fast enough it would get real cold. The synthetic was warm-ish when wet but if they were dry side by side merino is better/nicer.
In Antarctica el cheapo thermals performed exactly the same as nice merino. I have noticed though that the synthetic material has changed a bit and they don't seem to wear in as well. hard to explain.
We were given some of that new under armour thermal gear and so far its been excellent. I'd think maybe better than the icebreaker gear but havn't used it enough to really know. It is not at all cheap but we have sold a stack of the stuff.
From my experience the only big difference is that merino doesn't get its stink on as bad as synthetic when worn for longer than I should admit

try your local farm merchant, they would get feed back from the farmers and wouldn't stock if the didn't sell
as aid before 100% merino is the only way to go
mite go and have a look at LWR when I get a chance
