Hey all, i want to repower my samurai with a 1993 nissan laurel 2.6l diesel engine, was wondering if there is any one else who has done a repower, what problems you encountered, things to take into consideration and just general help tips.
Any help is appreciated.
Cheers

seems like it would be a lot of work, ya would need to adapt the engine to the box, clutch stuff etc... would be quite expensive, not to mention very heavy
A common conversion would be to use a G13b out of a cultis or swift, which I believe bolts straight to the bellhousing

Put a toyota 4age in it you wont look back. Cheap readily available and they go well.

yeh the rd28 ( i guess that what you mean) out of the laurels are way to big and waaaaayyyy to heavy for a zook. Do what mrO said or otherwise by one of these and put a vitara engine in, cheap, heaps around, go good use original parts, easy to wire up

If you want easy go with one of the suzuki options above.
If you have good fab skills or deep pockets for a conversion go 1600cc-2000cc 4 cylinder jap motor. I have a CA18DE in mine and there are a few 4age ones around. Lots of work though.

Toy - Zuk chassis tub, hilux 4.88 axles and transfer, Nissan CA18DE motor and auto trans, sc12 supercharger, 32 10'5 simex, twin motor 8274 custom freespool. Well the parts are all there in various corners of the shed

if you really want a diesel , then a VW 1.9TDi would be my pick.

Not exactly a common engine but I guess you can get a kit from the states to put it in , if they still do them .
It you want a diesel go with a 1 or 2ct . I doubt there is any difference in size so may as well go with a 2ct ( or a 3ct

Another option ( but not a good engine in my opinion and yes I have had one , went faultlessly too
