Replaced the water pump and thermostat on the Mitsy.
Gave cooling system a good flush and gave it some fresh coolant at the same time.

About half way through removing the engine from my cruiser, stuck on what to do with the bolts on the top half of the bellhousing up against the firewall.

Short of dropping the gearbox down to get enough room I'm lost :?:

Got angry at getting wet in the rain so packed it in for tomorrow..

When I took mine out we already had the head off so it was easy. To stick it back in we unbolted the mounts off the block and lowered it down as far as possible.

The one on the d-side halfway down we used lots of extensions and a UJ ;)

New thermostat in the Mazda, and then new clutch cable in the Suzuki. Found out for sure that the thrust/release bearing has gone as when trying to move plumes of clutch smoke appeared. Heavy duty clutch kit time I think.

Then got it towed home from my bosses. Looks like next few weekends are going to be spent on it.

Pulled the gearbox out of the lux, got to do a rear main seal on the 1uz, gona look at doing something with the clutch aswell, its only got a standard 3l diesel clutch in it, has been ok for a while now but it would be stupid not to look at upgrading it at this point 8)

just got back from a 2000km round trip to the 'Naki and back in the safari, went up Mt Taranaki and played in the snow had the whole mountain to ourselves so did all the newbee snow things like snowball fights and sliding down the hills on for sale signs .. great fun , then up to Ruapehu via the forgotten highway, now i know why it's called the forgotten highway it SHOULD BE!

Safari didnt miss a beat apart from on the return trip just outside Auckland when it developed a distinctive chuff chuff tick tick under load, sounded just like a burnt valve :? got home and pulled the heat shield off to discover all but two of the exhaust bolts less than finger tight  retightened them and all good.

God Saf seats are frigging uncomfortable though must look at replacing them with something a bit better.
