17 - 18 July
Replaced the water pump and thermostat on the Mitsy.
Gave cooling system a good flush and gave it some fresh coolant at the same time.

Re: 17 - 18 July
About half way through removing the engine from my cruiser, stuck on what to do with the bolts on the top half of the bellhousing up against the firewall.
Short of dropping the gearbox down to get enough room I'm lost
Got angry at getting wet in the rain so packed it in for tomorrow..

Re: 17 - 18 July
Any advice?
Slipping clutch, can't even make it to 100kmh
Plus new turbo bits, freshen up rings bearings etc

Re: 17 - 18 July
When I took mine out we already had the head off so it was easy. To stick it back in we unbolted the mounts off the block and lowered it down as far as possible.
The one on the d-side halfway down we used lots of extensions and a UJ

Re: 17 - 18 July
New thermostat in the Mazda, and then new clutch cable in the Suzuki. Found out for sure that the thrust/release bearing has gone as when trying to move plumes of clutch smoke appeared. Heavy duty clutch kit time I think.
Then got it towed home from my bosses. Looks like next few weekends are going to be spent on it.

I like to think of it as 80 Series: even the greatest need to rest occasionally

Went to palmy last night with a mate an picked up his new coiled 40
good start to the weekend but after work we had work rugby team practice (I hate sport, long story) an pulled my hamstring. Went round red rocks an spent an hour an a half winching digging an towing some stoned fu#kwits from wanganui out of some soft deep sand, theyd only had the standeard mitsi l300 2 days an thought itd be a good idea to go round there for a drive
Were supposed to buy me an a mate some beer but bailed on us in traffic near the piss shop

Stuffed the clutch on my truck on the way home on Friday. Had a visit from the gearbox fairys then took the parts down to BNT and they tell me the its a fj40 clutch and they havnt got any. Then took the flywheel into be skimmed and the machine is broken. Think i will stop at that not my weekend

2WD 06 Hilux... for now
Re: 17 - 18 July
Pulled the gearbox out of the lux, got to do a rear main seal on the 1uz, gona look at doing something with the clutch aswell, its only got a standard 3l diesel clutch in it, has been ok for a while now but it would be stupid not to look at upgrading it at this point

Re: 17 - 18 July
started to get ready for dropping the gearbox out of the Suzuki this afternoon. Went over board and removed all the carpet, rear seats, some trim and so on.
Only got the gear lever and transfer lever out.
Bloody colds

Re: 17 - 18 July

just got back from a 2000km round trip to the 'Naki and back in the safari, went up Mt Taranaki and played in the snow had the whole mountain to ourselves so did all the newbee snow things like snowball fights and sliding down the hills on for sale signs .. great fun , then up to Ruapehu via the forgotten highway, now i know why it's called the forgotten highway it SHOULD BE!

Safari didnt miss a beat apart from on the return trip just outside Auckland when it developed a distinctive chuff chuff tick tick under load, sounded just like a burnt valve

God Saf seats are frigging uncomfortable though must look at replacing them with something a bit better.
